Fireworks are class 1.1 1.2 (needs a license), 1.3 or 1.4 (available commercially) Explosives...

Any amount shipped must be declared as it is regulated by the DOT since they are considered Hazmat.

They are completely illegal to send by US postal service, but some shippers (like fedex) will allow them, but they must be declared, properly packaged, travel on ground routes (completely illegal to fly them) and have a huge hazmat surcharge.

You may want to take the chance to ship them w/o declaring them, but just be aware that if you get caught, the penalties are stiff, specially if the package is air shipped (DOT and ATF are not nice people when you ship explosives illegally). Remember that since Sept 11 a lot of shippers (including the USPS) use esplosive sniffers and dogs.

Very few fireworks manufacturers or distributors will ship illegally considering the trouble it may cause.

    Just my 2 cents...

This is an old thread, but since the holidays are coming up.....Red K is 10,000% correct. It's illegal and expensive and much easier to detect than AAS, so you take it from there.

Not illegal to have sodium nitrate. Or charcoal, or suphur.
Or little cardboard tubes, tape and steel wool pads and aluminum foil.
I use to make some cool ass fireworks back in the day.

We use to blow porta jons into smitherines.
