you can always cut the cap of the needle 1/4 of an inch and put it back on the needle so you only go in one inch.

Thanx for the link, the injection info I was given (mapped layout of the glute) is a MUCH bigger area and I think I may have injected one out of the zone shown on that site, might explain some of the pain.
