Thread: Too much sleep?

    Too much sleep?

I wasn't sure where to put this so I put it here. For most of the week with school and work I wake up at around 6-7 AM. On saturdays I work the eveining shift so I usually wind up sleeping to like 11-12 and same on sundays....maybe a little earilier on SUN. Is this a bad thing? Could this be hurting my gains?

you can never have 'too much sleep.' It's a myth from what I understand

but i know the whole time you are sleeping you are catabolic correct? So would it benifit me to possibly wake up and grab a shake or something then go back to bed or would that be a waste of my time?

Alot of people do that shake in the mid of the night, I myself haven't done that so can't respond on that behalf. But i do know that when i sleep anymore than 10 hours it sucks ass trying to fit in my calore goal for that day. I end up having fewer hours and then tend to over eat in each sitting to compensate. Though this might be a good shock for my body, it still sucks trying to eat that much in shorter hour days. Also, when i sleep in, i tend to stay up later the next night, and on mondays when i have to get up earlier i end up having only 5-6 hours of sleep.
    Bump for more opinions though...

I agree with less hours = cramming meals to meet my calorie needs. I have a nutritionist who now has me drinking 2 scoops of casein protein between 3-4 am to eliminate any chances of turning catabolic as well as giving me more nutrients to run into my first solid meal of the day so i have plenty of energy for my first round of lifting for the day

casein with or without any EFA's (Flax). Are you bulking? And if so has that helped, or are you noticing any fat gains with it, or not? I'm still interested on the subject.

just h2o and casein. my eating plan is laid out to swap straight fat for muscle which should be about 4-6lbs and sit at 6-7%bf by july 1 @ roughly 211-214lb so I don't intend to gain 1oz of bf.

good luck, sounds really reasonable for about 11 weeks of work. I plan on doing something similar. Good luck.
