I think so. People think it's hillarious if you say you believe in vampires rising from the dead yet it's totally plausable to believe Jesus did.

well, their was only one way out of the tomb Jesus was in on Saturday.....and on saturday into Sunday, the Roman gaurds stood watch, and went into the tomb on sunday, and no body was there

now whether you choose to accept/believe that or not, it gives the story credibility at least

If you get a chance, pick up the book "The God Delusion." It's a relatively new book but it breaks down the arguments for God and then basically tears them apart. Whether you are a devout believer in your personal God or not, imo you owe it to yourself to question your faith and really make a decision on what you choose to believe.

Every religion believes they are right, but guess what? If you were born in Afghanistan, most likely you would be Muslim, if you were born in Utah, you're most likely a Mormon, born in Thailand? You're probably a Buddhist. The vast majority of the time you are indocrinated into a religion long before you have the mental capacity to even begin to make these kinds of decisions on your own.

The argument and evidence against a supreme being is a very strong one, whether you are religious or not, it's worth looking into if knowing the truth about these kinds of things is important at all.

For me, it is enough to see a beautiful garden in front of my eyes without having to believe there are fairys flying around at the bottom of it.

The only thing that counters my belief in evolution is that life had to have come from somewhere. Even if we came from say another species from another universe how where they made and it continues prob to a never ending cycle. Scientist say that the whole universe started with the big bang and my question is where did living things come from when there was nothing living?

Here is what I thought I was: Christian Baptist, here is what I think I am: No Idea.

I have only been in the faith for a short while, so I suppose I have already begun to fail the tests of faith. At any rate, the Baptist evangelical belief is generally a Calvinist belief system. The claim is that the Bible is inerrat, and infallable(sp?). My background before "being saved" was that of someone who just went through life living it, whatever. Anyways, stuff happened and I came to faith. At first I had no problems with the claim of inerrancy of the bible. Though, what I found in the last month as my knowledge of scripture grew is that there are just things that I can't over look. Feel free to pm me and I can explain, but I am not here to undermine people's faith, I only wish to seek the truth, which I am told is the scriptures. So I digress, anyways, because I can't except the bible as inerrant there is no way I can be a Baptist or hold to a reformed view, or rather I should say that just about any denomination would say that I am truly not a believer. Problem is, I believe in what happened to me, I believe that there is a supernatural hand at work, and I believe that there is something beyond this life. I simply can't accept things at face value; I am not dumb enough to accept that if it is truly the word of god then there should be such confusion about accounts, such discrepencies about facts.

However, I should say that there are plenty of things in the scripture worth taking to heart, and that is where I find solace. I certaintly don't hold to a literal six days for the creation of the earth, and then one more day for man. I mean, the fact that it is specifically seperated in that fashion should lead one to suspect that the earth is not 10000 years old and it was not a literal 7 days. Anyways, I guess what difference does it make if I don't hold the view of inerrancy. There is a serious problem with Bible interpretation, Pastors are to know when to take something literal or not, which makes no sense. Christ says eat my body and drink my blood in rememberance of me, well wait, if he is wholly human then his body cant be in two places at once, so of course it is meant that the bread is a representation of his body. If I were to take that literally, I would have to refute what Christ did for us on the cross, for if he wasnt fully human then his death really meant nothing. So then I move onto the Genesis account; is the fall of man literall? or is it a way to show how man has become worse and worse, falling to a deceptive and deceiving nature?

Finally, what was the purpose of creation if god knew we would just simply sin? You must hold to the belief that he knows the end from the begining, so he knew Adam would sin. Though, did he really? I mean, go back, read it, God asks what he has done, as if he did not know. This comment though can also be played off as a non literal interpretation. It is a representation that we need to confess our sins to god perhaps.

Also, why are we to accept that everything good is from god, and anything evil or sinful is the work of us or the devil? I don't get it, god is the creator of all things, the snake, whatever, I know, someone will make a point of this too. There is always an answer from the inerrant believer, but it only begs the question. Back to subject, it says clearly in the old testament that EVIL is from god. Sure, we know from 2 Corinthians 12 that God will use evil to mature our faith, but this is different, this clearly says he created EVIL, but we are lead to think he only does good.

Jeremiah 36:3 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the EVIL which I intend to do to them, so that every one may turn from his evil way, and that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.

Jeremiah 32:42 For thus says Yahweh: Just as I have brought all this great EVIL upon this people, so I will bring upon them all the good that I promise them.

Amos 3:6 Does EVIL befall a city, unless Yahweh has done it?

Blah, I don't know I feel like I rambled, and did exactly what I didn't, maybe when I have time I will go back and make this coherent. The bottom line is my faith is hinderd because I cant accept all the little problems.

its kinda like the greeks and there beilef in there gods. We only now think that was so funny that they beileved in all those weird gods. Maybe in 500 years ppl will be thinking the same of us.

Ppl that are religious, or I should be saying ppl that believe in God, really can't present an arguement based on any kind of scientific facts, because it's a faith thing. No real proof when faith is the only evidence you have.

One things for sure, when our time comes, we'll know then.

Who knows? There could be plenty of reasons. Maybe the soldiers just let him go and lied. That more believable.

organized religion is ridiculous to me...i think alot of it goes against the very idea faith and freedom i think any god would want us to have. proof jesus exsisted? youre relying on a source...proof that he didnt, your countering that source with another one..the truth is no one has any idea of where we came from or what we are here for backed with real tangible explenation..but i think its alot easier to justify exsistance/your reason for being alive by sticking to someone elses story. being a catholic(or whatever)..confessing your sins and layin on heavens clowds when you die makes the world a lot more simple then being alone and having your own theories, your own faith, and your own ideas IMO... religion never felt right to me..i went to a catholic school but refused to be confirmed when i was 13.. who is anyone to tell me whats gospel and explain every piece of of he world and space that exsists around it? what makes the bible any more important or divine than what everyone believed before, or after its time? hell you can look a mere 300 years ago and find people being executed for witchcraft!! ****in witchcraft?!!?! and im suppose to believe people thousands of years ago had their story straight?!?!?!?!? and live by thier suggestion?? come on..
but thats not to say im an athiest with no faith...i have an unshakable belief in god, and divine creation..i just dont think anyone should be told how, or why to believe in something that profound.
