They are sleeping when it is done, as part of a larger surgery, they don't even know it happend after two days. It is about the diameter of a roofing nail, and getting it into the bone usually involves a hammer.Originally Posted by MrTAME
Not gonna lie i cringed on that one -.-Originally Posted by Kratos
What'll really make you cringe is when they arn't doing a bone marrow aspiration, but a percutanious screw placement in the spine. They hammer that sucker right into the pedicle of the vertibrae with no inscision. Then they shove a guide wire down the needle, take the needle away and send a 7 mm diameter x 50 mm long screw down the guidewire.Originally Posted by Renesis
I see open spine surgery on a regular basis as part of my job, nothing bothers me. I saw someone loose 4.5 liters of blood last week.
I don't cringe at the sight of blood/surgeries. Just the painful looking procedures done by doctors.Originally Posted by Kratos
Oh and to whoever said about docs using the same pin they drew with to inject with my doctor injected me with the same pin 10 times to deliver a numbing agent before getting my stitches on my finger and arm.
