Is it possible to over train on AAS? I rest 2 days split up wed and sun, 3000-4000 cals a day 3rd cycle, 400 mgs of deca 500 mgs of test per week.
Would it be ok to take a week break from the gym?

You can easily overtrain, if youre not careful. A week break is fine. Listen to your body.
You dont grow in the gym, bro. Good luck.
Very good thread topic. How do experienced gear users decide how/when to rest?? Do they all just go by feel?
Looking back, I was probably guilty of overtraining when I did my first cycle. I remember my girlfriend and I went to San Diego for a weekend and didn't lift for 3 days. When I got back I was freakishly strong and had animalistic intensity in the gym.
bottom line the body needs rest... rest + sleep= growth.... considering your diet is in check....
What about a 3 days on, 1 day off schedule?
Too many days on in a row, imo. The most Id ever do is 2 on, 1 off.... and I have not done that in a long time. You'll learn; you dont grow in the gym.Originally Posted by ShadetreeJones

I now train every other day and it is working great.
2 on 1 off works for me while off cycle when im on i train 5 days a wk cardio 2x a wk .that also changes with amount of pain im suffering from injections i might skip a day if im unable to move my arms or walk![]()
I'm of the opinion that overtraining is actually difficult to do when both on-cycle (experiencing augmented recovery), and applying the traditional 2-Body Part a Day (2-BP) program which inherently provides thorough intermittent recovery for the other muscle groups. The union of these two factors seems to discount the short-term (i.e. 3 days in a row) is too much philosophy.
However when regarding continuous (no off day) long-term training even in light of the 2-BP naturally occurring breaks, one must consider rest from a systemic viewpoint because therein lays the problem. Namely, a resting of the body’s various systems. Overtraining affects both peripheral and central mechanisms within the body. For example, resting from overtraining on the bicycle by swimming more will help a pair of fatigued quadriceps, but continues to stress the heart, pituitary and adrenals. It is this type of system overtraining that ultimately depreciates growth and development the most.
Be sure to heed the early warning signs, and to make adjustments accordingly. Remember, don’t just train harder, but smarter as well. And as Johnny said earlier listen to your body.

BE CAREFUL!
what about a 1day in 1day out. working the whole body for about 2 hours, and on two of the days out ,half an hour cardio. that seems to be doing it for me!
it's ez to over do it on or off gear IMO...I went to Vegas for a week when I got back my bench went up 40lbs I was like WTF....clean no gear.... so now i hit it hard 1 day and take 2 off...
You cannot lift like I do for 2 hours. No way.Originally Posted by mowla
How do you max ea. muscle group's potential load? Not a good, plan, imo. 45 min. in the gym is more than enough if you keep up max intensity.
Overtraining actually is a product of the nervous system. Splitting muscle groups over different days helps muscles recover but does NOT help the nervous system recover. you shouldnt be training more than 4 days per week. you need to listen to your body and take off time when needed!!

Its only one part of overtraining. Central fatigue has been shown to be a plausible cause of overtraining but is only one component. It takes between 3-10 days depending on the person for the contractile proteins to repair and grow. There is some studies that show that some of the difference between recovery rates from person to person are because of the myo-satelite cells that help in aiding in micro trauma repair to muscle tissue.Originally Posted by powerliftmike
So do you guys take a week off while on cycle to avoid cns overtraining? Or just those couple days between bp?
Generally a day is sufficient rest while training, however if you're already overtrained then you need rest long enough to recover. This is contingent upon just how overtrained your body is...sometimes a week is appropriate.Originally Posted by Baron
Agreeing with Roid's comment below...THERE SHOULDN'T BE A NEED FOR A WHOLE WEEK OFF WHILE ON CYCLE!

I wouldnt take a week off training during cycle. If you need an extra day here and there thats fine.
So opt to take the week off before start of cycle?

still you ALL think overtraining is so prevalent.....i'm apalled no one has learned better in the year since i've commented about this
Its the most overdebated topic in bodybuilding. Everyone contradicts eveyone. The internet has me it impossible for a newbie to decide wether he's overtraining or not.Originally Posted by RuhlFreak55
It so easy to tell,
If your overly sore, fatigued, injury prevalant, loss weight, loss strenght. You are more than likely overtrained.
There are so many factors that play into this topic. Diet, aas, supplements, workout splits, etc.
Also varies with each person. Some are going to need more time off than others.
Your body will tell you everything.

i'm with magic.....i think it's very hard if not impossible for most peopel to overtrain when they're on gear
I think the only thing everyone agrees on is to heed the warnings from the body. One day, tops two was plenty for me.
I would rather be guilty of overtraining than undertraining. But thats just me.
