The big thing is to get 1.5 to 2g of protein per pound, make sure to eat complex carbs(oatmeal, yams, brown rice ect.) make sure your fats are healthy and to gain alot of weight make sure to make beef the cornerstone of your protein intake, adjust your carbs based on how you feel they tend to affect everyone differently. As for a cheat day, stick to a cheat meal not an entire day, I've done it both ways it just works better to have it be only a meal as to not be a pig. good luck.
Eat a lot of oatmeal. And a good way to get your protein in is cottage cheese. 4 servings of cc is like 64 grams of protein, have that with oats+milk+some almonds and you have a great meal in minutes.
how much of your daily protein intake can can come from Protein shakes?

Its better to get food from real sources, except for postworkout when the fast-acting whey and carbohydrates are more beneficial.
