Same here. Hypertension runs in my family and got me about 2 years ago. I am on a beta-blocker. It keeps my BP in check and it helped throughout my cycle as well. You DO NOT want to let your BP just run high though whether cycling or not!!! Can cause an enlarged heart and many other problems and even death. Not something to play with. I would suggest workng hard to pattern a diet and exercise plan and work to get your BP as close to normal as possible without meds. But sometimes you may just flat out have to get on meds for it. This is a great excuse to get your cardio really ironed out and steady, which is something you will need to do while cycling anyway. You can be in much better cardiovascular shape for lifting.
