Welcome. There seems to be peaks and valleys in the supplement industry, however there are no valleys in the marketing side. Even when there are no significant advancements, there is always marketing hype claiming to be the new next great thing. I wonder how many people per year are duped by the steroid sounding names you referenced, I'm sure it's a multi-million dollar industry. Sad.

Thanks for the welcome. It is sad and I understand it's a business, but I just find it unfortunate that people eat these products up and think they found gold in a bottle. Tempts me to whip up a homebrew of my own and sell it, but I don't think I have it in me to fool people that much haha.

I saw a special on tv a while back where companies came up with bogus weight loss drugs, paid off doctors to endorse them and sold them in infomercials, by the time it caught up with them they just went bankrupt, changed the name of the company, then offered products to help you stop smoking, etc. They were herbal products so somehow skated around the fda. They made millions without helping anyone. My conscience wouldn't let me do it.
The truly sad thing about the people that buy the fake supplements and weight loss pills thinking it's a miracle cure most likely never actually followed a true diet, if they ate properly they would in most cases accomplish their goals.

I couldn't agree with you more. I have friends that come to me on a weekly, if not daily basis asking me about some new product that claims to increase their bench by 75%, burn fat, and turn them into a supermodel. I can't help, but laugh when I look at the ingredients. AND the sad part is since these products don't have to go through the FDA or anything, these companies can make up names for ingredients. So, not are they fooling the public with misleading claims, figures, and stats, but they are also fooling them by listing some cool, made up name as an ingredient. I remember reading the ingredients of one product and it listed something like, 'amahematestodrol' as the ingredient Thankfully to my benefit, I have some common sense and a good chemistry background, so it's easy for me to pick out these flaws, but for the general public, it's very sad.
