can I ask another dumb question...why carbs after workout?

I work out late and I thought carbs were a no no after 3pm

that is the common dietary approach for the "average" person. it's that way because the average guy has a 39 inch waist and only weighs about 180... do the math. carbs are essential in muscle repair and beginning to store glycogen back into muscles. your muscles are starved of nutrients and need to refill their glycogen, and PWO carbs are the best way to start that process. plus the combination of carbs and protein is what starts protein synthesis (muscle repair) which is the ultimate goal after a hard workout. doesn't matter what time it is. if it's PWO it's proteins and carbs.

and you can't go wrong with some added potassium, especially if you are doing cardio and lifting.

Carbs in the morning after cardio and carbs after lifting are a essential part of mine and many peoples cutting diets.
