    weight classes

ok so im doing my first competition in july and i just have a question about how often people are a lot under in the weight class that they are in... for example i want to go light heavy which is up to and including 198.25 lbs but by the time i get my conditioning and my bodyfat lower i think im gonna be like around 189 which will be really heavy for middle weight which is 176 but on the lighter end of light heavy.. how often does this happen? not sure if it even matters which is why i am asking now.. thanks a lot guys

we need to see stats, (height, age, bf, etc) pics would help too. Rule of thumb for first show is get your bf and plan to start your diet that many weeks out. i had to start 16 weeks my first show. you will learn that the mirror is your guide, not weight. however, if you feel you will be more competitive in a certain weight class, by all means, go for it. the trade off is muscle loss. i am a walking example of that, but it worked for me my first year. Best of Luck

it don't matter what you weigh, use the mirror for judgment not a scale. striate those glutes and lower back and you'll do fine no matter what you weigh.

don't matter, i've seen lt heavies when the over all wei***ng in at 183. i won my 1st middlwt wei***ng 161 yrs ago. what i'm saying is it dosn't matter what you weigh as long as the size, definition, and proportion are there. go in as lean as posible without losing to much muscle.

i wouldn't stress too much about it right now. Keep up your hard work and when you start dieting down just pay attention to how your body looks. After you get down in the 190's you might think you should cut harder, or maybe you look awsome. When it gets closer to time and that weight comes off you'll be able to decide a lot easier.

Most people tend to overestimate what their weight will be when they do their first show. Dont get stuck on a number, go for the look.
