leg day for me is
leg press
cage squats
calf raises
lunges
hamstring curls
hack squat machine
leg extension
it absolutely destroys my legs
I don't know how you guys can do so many exercises on leg day if your lifting to full intensity. I just can't seem to do more than squats on leg days and that alone is enough to kill my legs for 3 days.
but why not just go heavier and harder with real squats? What are you accomplishing with the hack squat machine?
I guess it is different for your ass muscles than leg press because the angle is different at the hips.
lunges have been the real killer lately for me, they demolish your hams and glutes. i could hardly walk after i finished 4 sets of them
Even on leg press, no matter how heavy i go, I never seem to be sore the next day. It pisses me off so I don't do them either.
my legs are usually sore for 4-5 days after leg day.
it gets to the point where i have to walk like frankenstein for a few days until it eases up. i still want to get my legs a lot bigger though.
what do you squat morph, and how many reps?
225 is my standard weight i use most of the time, i have a really hard time with squats for some reason so i dont squat overly heavy, i still now just try to concentrate on form and going as deep as i can.
reps are usually 8-10 for 4 sets, sometimes i throw a bit more weight on and shoot for 6-8. nothing amazing though
like I said squats are my big exercise for legs, I just keep putting more and more weight...it's great. The bicycling I do helps whatever muscles I miss so I don't worry.
My first set I go as heavy as I can for 1-3 reps usually with a spot, but even without. Than for my next three sets I keep it at 6-8 reps. Finally, my last set I do a "widowmaker" set where I do 20 reps at a weight that I can usually only do for 15 reps. The last set is killer.
*All sets and reps are as low as I can go. Usually below parallel and that's measured from the top of the quad not the hamstring.
Of course I warm-up before all of this with light squats.
too many sets imo morph. What I do is warm up on the exercise bike for like 2 min. THen I put 135 on the bar (you could go less) and do like 4 sets of 5 reps to warm up.
THen I'll put 225 on and do 2 sets of 3
This is just to warm up and some time shooting the shit between sets
Then I'll go super heavy for just one set aiming to almost fail on the 8th rep
for me tonight it was 385
Then I'll do one drop set at 225, maybe do like 10 reps
It's kinda a wierd routine but doing one super heavy set works the best for me
I like going to failure on one heavy set for a lot of my exercises. When I don't fail until 12 reps its time to add more weight next time.
i'll try going heavy next leg day.
