3 years ago I bought a VW Jetta cause I was pissed when gas went over $2.00! Since then I have bought a condo and put in an energy efficient fridge, dishwasher, stove/oven, washer, dryer and furnace. If and when I get out of the condo I'll buy a house then spend money on getting some solar while it's "cheap".
