    Nuts

I'm looking for a snack between meals. What nuts have the best protein/carb/fat ratio?

According to FDA, types of nuts that can claim to be nutritional are restricted to almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts, pecans, some pine nuts, pistachio nuts and walnuts. These types do not exceed 4 g saturated fat per 50 g of nuts.

Though nuts are a higher-fat food, it is mostly heart-healthy unsaturated fat and may help lower LDL (bad cholesterol).

I've also read that walnuts were higher in fat that the others, maybe someone can clear this up...

What he said. Also, if you get sick of "regular" almonds do this...

    4 cups of almonds
    2 eggwhites
    2-3 tablespoons water
    1/2 cup splenda
    2 table spoons ground cinnamon

Now, preheat oven 250 degrees. Mix all ingridients besides almonds in a bowl and whisk. Now add almonds and toss lightly. Spray baking pan with cooking spray and spread coated almonds on it. Sprinkle more cinnamon/splenda mix if you like. Cook for an hour then let sit for 30 minutes.

    WARNING: These are very addictive.

I also have recipes for healthy bbq, italian, ranch, smokey flavored almonds if you're interested but the cinnamon is my favorite.

Shouldn't be snacking between meals anyway. Almonds or Walnuts though are best.
