im comfortable where im at because ive been here for quite some time. the only weight i wanna put on would be muscle. for the most part, i only do fight specific workouts. lots of push ups, crunches, mitt work and LOTS of drills to improve stamina. i dont want a lot of bulk slowing me down. at my size/weight i have a nice reach advantage over damn near anyone in my weight class. i havent done anything to keep from gaining weight cuz that would be dumb, but the way i eat i only seem to get leaner. which, in all accounts is fine by me as long as im gaining a bit of muscle mass as well.

i know this doesnt make sense to many of you. i expected this reaction when talking to a bunch of people who are trying to get big. im not trying to get big, just stronger for the sake of my jiu jitsu. in stand up, speed is just as deadly as power. no worries there. i say boo to the ground game anyway not that i dont respect it, but no one wants to see guys rolling around with each other for 3 five minute rounds. stand up and throw some damn it
your practicing jiu-jitsu and you dont respect "the ground game"? ummm, ok

in my sentence i said, "not that i dont respect it" which means i do respect it, i was just saying im not much of a fan of watching it. you must read more clearly.

the only way i could gain muscle and stay in the same bracket would be to lose as much water weight as possible before a fight. wont take much. my weight shifts several pounds throughout the course of a day.
i could just go sit in my front yard and sweat for a few hours in the 110+ degree weather we have here.

I just dropped about thirty pounds to get back into mma so that I would not gas in seconds. It sucks dropping weight especially if it was hard fought lean mass....lol

I am kinda with you on the ground game thing. However as I started learning more about MMA as a whole I started to see some of the little things that happen only on the mat that I didnt see before going into my training. Now I watch fights and see a sweep or an submission or even just a simple pass and can see the technique and chest matches being played out that I couldnt see before.
