So do you? Do you trust cops?
So do you? Do you trust cops?
casted my vote and the answer is NO
define trust.
I don't trust anyone who stands behind a badge of US law enforcement. When it becomes a crime for a cop, agent, special agent, to lie to citizens, and not the other way around, then I might start to have some trust.
as much as i would trust them in a room alone with a box of krispy kreme
if you're in a situation where you find yourself needing to trust a cop, you probably shouldnt. Actually, i wouldn't trust anyone i dont personally know.
These cop threads are getting out of hand.
well for all the guys that dont trust cops then when ever someone is whiping your ass or has a gun pulled on you dont bother calling the police because you dont trust them right. point blank is you guys dont trust cops because they do there job. if you are doing something illegal then if a cop bust you then why are you mad at him. you are the one that was breaking the law. and i also love how you guys preach on how cops dont always fallow the law but yet 90% of this board uses steroids. please tell me who the real hypacrits are. lol
It's not that we are hypocrites, it's the fact that being a cop in itself has become of hypocrite job.
They are suppose to uphold the law right? Yet they don't seem to be doing that.
We are memebers steroid board that are suppose to uphold the law right?
Why are they getting so absolute is the problem. The cops are no longer trusted because of reputation they have built for them selves.
I would love nothing more than a drug dealer or user be beaten down if he or she is aggressive. But when they are peacefully going to be arrested there should be no need for excessive force based on a cops personal opinon of race or beliefs. Just my opinion ofcourse.
Everything is about one word...RESPECT....you give respect you receive it and vice versa.... I voted yes, but it boils down to that for me. It can be a fully decorated badge or a homeless person and even a type of criminal that uses juice, it really boils down to respect given to one another in conversation.
Cops are supposed to behave respectfully REGARDLESS my friend. Just like a drug counselor is supposed to behave respectfully even if the addict/patient is going off calling him alls sorts of names, etc. It is called PROFESSIONALISM. Same thing with social workers, doctors, nurses, etc. When one of their customers starts running his mouth like a dickhead it is THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO BEHAVE PROFESSIONALLY. It's not their job to take out a weapon and beat them.
Cops in my country, specially in my region, are the new caciques.
I don't trust them, I don't like them and they should be removed and bring back the old cops, who where incopetent but al least they didn't go ballistic for no reason and constatly use verbal and fisical violence just to show how though they are and win some respect which they don't have and will never have.
HOW DARE you all question authority in this country? Thats not what the united states was based upon. You should pay your taxes, trust your politicians, thank your law enforcement, learn every law - all 300,000 of them, including the new 1,000 that are passed each year, and abide by those laws. Now, not only should you do that, but you should do it with a smile on your face!
Come on people, this is the united states, its the greatest country in the world! so why should you feel anything but content and satisfaction? We do not question authority here, that is UNamerican!

Don't Let the Police kick your ass
well the only time i ever had a gun pulled on me it was by an of duty cop. Oh why because we were in a club and he thought i was hitting on his ugly wife and got mad. So he pulled out his gun in the middle of the dance floor ans stuck it in my chest. BTW, he didn't mention he was a cop until my friends who were bouncers disarmed him and pointed the gun at him. I'll take my chances with common criminals.
I trust the ones I'm friends with. It's hard these days when you see videos of blatant police brutality but alot of times the media doesn't show what provoked the brutality. Cops beating a guy on the ground handcuffed on his stomach is bullshit. A cop body checking a bicyclist is also bullshit. Then you here of the cop that was dragged for a block by some kid in a stolen car so they shoot him. Then the kids mother is screaming police brutality and oh no not my son.
i would trust them to protect me in a life/death situation cuz they're all a bunch of hot heads that just wanna increase the size of their d^cks. otherwise i wish death upon them.
I used to be a military cop. They're like any other professionals; some are good, others mediocre, some are bad.
Depends on the particular cop, really. Overall, I trust them, as a group, as much as I trust any other government employee.
Most people who hate cops are criminals or have been at one time.
If you're doing what you supposed to be doing - behaving like a responsible adult - then the interaction between you and the police will be minimal. The only time that you may have to deal with them is if you have a car accident, are a crime victim, etc. Other than that, if you're not driving like an a-hole or acting up, you'll probably avoid contact with a cop and then you'll have no reason to dislike them.
And if you're argument is that they come around and harass you for "no reason," then where are you making yourself available to them to do so? If it's that street corner where all sorts of trouble seems to emanate from, then it may be time to find a better place to spend your time.
Thats just not true. I'll speak from personal experience on this one. When I was 17 years old, I drove a $45,000 car with 20" rims and dark tint(legal). I was pulled over multiple times per month, and asked if I had drugs, guns, weapons, knives, or hand grenades on me. Repeatedly I was asked to get out of my vehicle for a terry search. In most of those instances I was pulled over for absolutely no motor vehicle infraction of any kind. This was clear and blatant profiling. I was abiding by all traffic laws, and minding my own business, yet I had repeated run ins with the law. The argument that if you abide by the law you will have no run ins with police officers is not infallable as I have proven from PERSONAL experience. This was a case of blatant profiling.
I got a warning ticket for driving at the posted speed limit, from a Sherriff's deputy in a bitty town in east Texas. The idiot didn't like my long hair, and most likely pulled me over because of my long hair. And if you're argument is that they come around and harass you for "no reason," then where are you making yourself available to them to do so? If it's that street corner where all sorts of trouble seems to emanate from, then it may be time to find a better place to spend your time.
Another time I got pulled over for riding a moped in a city park. Cop made me walk heel-to-toe on a painted line to see if I was drunk (of course not!) . . .
An unmarked TV van filmed a Dallas cop who picked a gay guy at random (in the gay neighborhood) and beat the living s--- out of him. Made great TV, but the guy had a few broken bones. Was a huge scandal for the cops . . .
A few other Dallas cops framed a bunch of innocent people by passing powdered sheetrock as drugs, and a bunch of people ended up in jail for a few years, until the fraud was exposed.
Not all cops are like that, but enough of them are to make me not trust 'em.
You also have to understand the standard for being one has gone down. Seeing as how we have 5% of the total world population and 25% of the worlds prisoners almost anyone can be a criminal. Seeing as how you are on this forum as well, I can assume a lot of you may also be into steroids. Thats a crime in the US, that makes you a criminal.
good rule of thumb: Don't trust them, keep your mouth shut if you're under any scrutiny, lawyer up.
I don't understand how people can hate cops when chances are they've never even ran into one or actually gotten to know one.
Encase you didn't know they're not just *cops, they're regular friggn people like everyone on this board.
After spending most of my youth and early adulthood running from them and then having my ass saved by them in jail, yeh I trust cops. And I know a shit load of them. Brothers a cop, bestfriends a cop, 2 neighbors are cops. (one a detective) + I got to know about 40 cops doing a long stint.
Stop hating on cops, if we didn't have them this world would be a complete F*ckn mess.
I trust cops... One time there was a cop, a man struggling with his marriage, got trapped in a high-rise building by a gang of "terrorists" planning a major robbery. The terrorists were holding me and many of the employees hostage, including his wife. This New York City police officer, battled the terrorists, while arguing with the deputy LAPD chief, who was leading dozens of LAPD officers who were unable to do much to stop the terrorists. Eventually, this cop managed to save me and most of the hostages while killing most of the terrorists and thwarting their plan. That cop was awesome I'll never forget him.

Im black, young 23 and drive a $40k audi.. I get pulled over once or twice a month usually for bullshit and always end up being let off with a warning after they check the registration, does that piss me off yeah. Also glad I live in a country where I dont have to worry about people jackin my hard earned pride and joy because of asshole cops who have nothing better to do than harasse people in nice cars.. so a little of both
I don't hate cops - not at all but am really upset of how some of them are. I have a lot of friends that are cops and some of them actually are doing staff against the law when they are not on duty and of course they get away with it. But when I got pulled over 4 years ago with 100mph on my bike I received a ticket and not only a speeding ticket I also got a reckless driving ticket(also did 100 hours community service, 6 months probation, drug tests). By the way that was the first time I got pulled over and my first time going over 100mph. So I don't hate cops but they(most of them) are not perfect at all, not even close to it. Once a cop told me that all the tickets are all about the money, that's what justice is - he said to me. I can talk all day long about how cops are and what they've done that is bad for the simple fact cause I know a lot of them. So please don't tell me I should trust them. Peace.
