    What should be my next goal for my physique?

    I'm 23 years old. I've lifted and played sports since I was a child. I stopped playing collegient football a little over a year ago. I'm 6ft. 3 in. tall, weigh 270lbs., bf is 23%. I've been maintaining my fitness level for the last month but have not lifted seriously for about 2 months. My goal is to be 235 lbs. but much harder and lower bf %. I want to achieve this by April of 2009 for vacation in florida, U.S.

    My question is: What should be my next goal. A or B. (A) Should I focus on losing weight and bf% now, then later building muscle on top of my slimmed down frame. (B) Or should I focus on building mass and muscle for now then in January 2009 start to shed the fat.

    Any input would be appreciated. thanks.

    It depends on what type of body frame you have. If you are an ecto , ****. or endomorph. It sounds like your a ****/endo morph. which makes it harder to lose weight than gain muscle. I would do a cutting diet and then a lean bulk. BUT if you are very serious with your diet it might be easier to bulk first and then diet. It just depends on your dedication.

    Thanks alot. I really didnt know where to put this question since there is no section labled what I should do next.

    Roughly how many calories should I aim at consuming a day if I wanted to lose say about 40lbs. by end of January 2009. Also should I even aim to lose that much weight that fast, I mean will I be losing alot of muscle. By the way my routine will be lifting M,W,F and cardio T, TH, Sat..

    Yes it is harder for me to lose fat than to gain muscle.

    i was same size as you 6' 3 weighed in at 285 few months ago at 20 percent body fat, im down to 255 at 17 percent bodyfat now.... i did a cutting cycle and stayed the exact same weight due to my diet and cardio, during pct i have lost 20 pounds but strength is still great and size is as well. my diet was 4 or so weeks low carbs then 4 or so weeks carbs with every meal, switch it up every month or so seems to work good for me. i also do cardio 4 times a week anywere from 30 min to an hour...
