Liquid nutrion will always be digested faster because it's on liquid form. This is why we have shakes PWO as we need that immidiate recovery. Whole foods will take longer to digest but your body recognises whole foods a lot easier than processed nutrition (such as powders).

Everyone is different when it comes to this. I try and stay away from shakes and eat whole foods instead. The only time I have a shake is PWO, throughout the day and for dinner, I am always eating whole foods. I believe this is the best way to go about it as nothing can replace proper food.

You need carbs to balance slin. You can buy a glucose meter for about $20 and the test sticks for 40 - 50 cents each. With this you can adjust your dose and your carb intake to balance it. You can get these items at a WalMart (their product is called ReliOn Ultima).

I keep honey close by just in case my glucose level falls below 65 and have some sweet tarts in my glove box. You can tune up your insulin usage and/or check to see if you are pushing it too far by directly measuring your blood glucose with a meter.
