could this also be influenced by school? cuz they're not critical of me at all i don't think.....maybe with the college and wanting to get good grades and as such not have a job thing....and dad with my bodybuilding....but other than that....
and they weren't usually negative up until this winter.....
but i've always been the way I am.....ever since 5th grade..

well if they intentionally or un-intentionally give the message that your worth is based upon your school performance then it will cause negative self-image...
and the bodybuilding...that's mostly what you care about in your life...very important to you...and he's negative about that..= more negative self-image. particularly if you value and respect your dad and his opinion of you.

it took me nearly forty years to feel as if i gained my father's respect or at least approval. the way he indicates his pride in me is rather subtle and indirect.
