Protein shake: drink or throw out?

Iron- shake doesn't smell bad. I never claimed that it did. Smell is not always an accurate indicator of whether or not a food item is safe. You know this, right?

That's why I posted this in the Lounge forum instead of the diet or steroid forum. People post threads about cleavage and "ask me anything" in this forum. You act like I set an appointment with you and wasted your time. There are threads here about bowel movements.

I really want to think that the flamers really have decent manners when they're offline and have to look a person in the eye when addressing them.

I'm going to drink the protein cause I'm cheap and will post results- If I get sick, I'll post picks and admit that you guys were right.

If you feel like this thread is wasting your time, then invest your time more wisely on the the bowl movement or cleavage threads instead of taking several more minutes to post on here about how this thread was a waste of your time. Does that sound remotely logical?

I was cleaning out a shaker after leaving it sit for 2 days with left over remnants of the shake. The smell was so bad that I literally almost vomitted all over the kitchen. When I read this thread, that very same feeling in my throat came back just thinking about it. I would'nt drink a protein shake once it wasn't cold anymore, period, so basically if its more than 15 minutes old I'm tossing it and getting a new one. Good luck to you anyway...

Purified protein w/ preserves + chlorine filled water is not the easiest breeding ground. Milk on the other hand is filled with bacteria.

honestly, if I had a protein drink.....and I finished it, did not rinse my cup, let it sit in the sink for like 2 days, it will eventually reek.

yeah.. but it still goes bad. i've had some pretty bad empty bottles and shakers from only a day or two

What I'm trying to get at is that it will take longer than if dealing with milk + protein or 'real' foods. If you leave a protein shake out all day and it's protein + water than it should be ok to drink as long as the water you are using isn't diseased.

Bottom line is, their is plenty of us on this thread that have testified that, leaving an unrinsed cup or what have you for a day or 2 results in a smelly apperatus.

yeah, I am sure that the level of bacteria in the protein concoction might be 1/100 of any other kind of food left out for that long. but is 1/100 enough to make you sick? Thats kind of up to genetic factors and more. Even if all it were to do is give you the shits and a minor stomache discomfort like 1/10.........IS that worth trying to save a dollars worth of powder?

I would do it without a problem. There's risks with anything so why is this insignificant one so different?

although you are right about other risks, i avoid those that make me sick. even if the chance is small, i wouldn't trade $1 for throwing that shit up.

I would be referring to both, bottled water is no better than tap. In some cases it is actually worse. 100x more expensive and has the same contaminants some that arn't found in tap water. Bottled water doesn't follow the same guidelines/standards as tap so it can contain more contaminants.
