Always mad respect to the drummers who play speed metal. That shit is difficult. Not so much to play as it is to not cramp up and have to stop.

I don't think most purposly make it sound like shit, except maybe some NSBM bands (who do that to clearly distinguish themself from regular BM bands). Most bands have either no budget and/or have no clue about production.

Yeah I don't really understand how some drummers do it. I saw Meshuggah live and watched their drummer play the 8 minute song flawlessly, and it really didn't make sense how one man could manage

It doesn't take much of a budget these days, I can make nearly pro sounding recordings with a 1200 dollar PC and a good program. They dig the low fi sound. I'm talking about the savage european black metal guys who usually wear facepaint and like their music sounding like shit.
