    The Alpha Male

How would some of you define the term "Alpha Male"? What to you is an Alpha Male? The term almost seems like a misnomer and someone who gets drunk and gets into fights might consider himself an Alpha Male, a guy that sleeps around might consider himself an Alpha Male... are these guys really Alpha Males though? Is it measured on ability to **** loads of women, is it a measure of success or is it how someone handles themselves, or someone who knows how to take care of his family.

    Thoughts on the matter?

Masculinity is defined by everyone differently, depending on how they were conditioned during their formative years. The qualities and traits that one person might assign to an ideal alpha would be completely different than what another male would think of.

When I was younger, I had my Grandfather's example as my primary male role model. He didn't ever hug, or say "I love you", or admit to his mistakes or apologize. He drank whiskey every day and talked about fighting. If he experience emotional pain or fear, he expressed it as anger and hostility. He boosted his own confidence by insulting and belittling others.

Eventually I became independent and brave enough to question his example. I started venturing outside of my comfort zone and experimenting with my perceptions of masculinity.

Now, I express my own ideal of masculinity with weight training, MMA fighting, community activism, ect. Healthy forms of "alpha behavior". I gave up drinking, fighting (almost completely), sleeping around and using women and have replaced them with a healthy lifestyle including spirituality.

Now I've developed the courage to accept accountability for my mistakes, I can apologize when I see fit, I tell people that I love them, and hug my friends instead of shaking their hands. People often feel threatened by me because of my confidence. Men sometimes pick fights with me (especially in an environment where there's alcohol) and women feel insecure sometimes because I make too much eye contact of speak my mind.

The man I am now is far more secure and fulfilled than I ever was when I was trying to fulfill my Grandfather's ideals of masculinity. I love that man, but we both know that he's never had the courage to be a legitimate, sincere male. He's doing better now though. I make him hug me! lol.

That's why I kinda started this thread. You'll see two powerful males going at it, either to defend his pack or claim the pack as his own and aquire resources in the animal kingdom. Sometimes I see insecure chumps using heavy handed tactics and then calling themselves Alpha Males. I personally dont think a guy who is a true Alpha Male would need to validate himself by telling the world he is one. But again, what characteristics quantifies one in the human world..

Thats probably the best way to put it that I have ever seen. There are some people that just have that indescribable ability to have a room full of people revolve around them without even trying.

Some people can just command a room the minute they walk in. Most alpha males I have seen hold themselves to high regard, by this I dont mean cocky. Instead demand more of themselves, they rise to the occasion. These are just some of the things I have noticed in males I would consider "alpha males".

An alpha male is a man who does what he wants because he wants to and is never afraid to say or do something just because others say he can't,he also won't let himself be pushed around or talked down to.
This, however does not mean he will start fights left right and centre or act the pr!ck,.Those guys are bullies and as we all know, bullies pick the people they know won't or can't fight back.An alpha male will look ANYBODY in the eye and say what they think, not tailor their responce to suit who they are talking to,this is why most alpha males are disliked by a certain group of ''wana bees''.That's what I believe.

The best answer I have seen is "PRESENCE"

To add my own contribution to this....an alpha male has a complete disregard for what others think, and is not afraid to go against the grain on things.

    3 things

    -Presence

    -free spirited

    -fearless

"How to Become an Alpha Male"

Women love alpha males...are you one?
It's a commonly known fact that women are more attracted to alpha males than any other type of male. If you aren't an alpha male at the moment, the good news is that you can learn how to become an alpha male very quickly.

Get started with these 5 alpha male tips:

    1. Alpha males assume high status

    2. Alpha males use playfully cocky humor around women

    3. Alpha males are confident

    4. Alpha males are masculine

    5. Alpha males aren't afraid to take the lead

"Alpha Male" to me just means natural.

Its all about genetic potential and predisposition.
The guy who is closest to perfect w/out actually working FOR perfect is an alpha male.

Some guys are born funny, born with the ability to communicate on a level most aren't, BORN with basically any characteristic thats valued in a society.

The problem is alpha male really means shit and its often misunderstood a lot.
ie: Is Obama an alpha male?

He may have traits of an alpha male but a more proper term for him would be "dominant male". A dominant male can be just as if not more successful then an alpha male, and so can a lot of other types of males.

If I'm born a skinny shy loser, then spend 10 yrs of my life getting in shape, learning how to talk to people, and working on myself, I don't become an "alpha male" but I could easily have more power and status then one.
The whole point is the alpha male can gain more by investing less then the majority, but many alpha males are also semi retarded because they're born with a genetic potential that causes an undercompensation as they age.
So never fear an alpha male, just because you have genetic potential, and other people see it, doesn't mean you'll ever actually make use of that potential.
