Depends on you personally - if your body can handle a few extra cheat meals and brews and still gain - that's cool. Some people can't, or fail miserably without consistancy.
Only you can answer this quesiton - try stopping the drinking and partyin on the weekends and see where you go from there - you may find it makes no difference, or all the difference in the world.
see i've only went 2 weeks without pulling the weekend warrior out though so I really don't know how much better the results could be. I've gained nicely though. Just not sure on how bad i'm messing up progress.
Depends on how many brews you're drinking, thats the part that would mess me up. Going to to get shit faced and drunk just like the rest of the them will slow progress. 1-2 brews is fine but how many of us young guys only drunk 1-2 in a night
I noticed once I stopped the weekend warrior thing my gains just shot through the roof. However my goals are different then most. Just depends what exactly you want and how bad you want it.
yea im going to have to give way sometime back to my weekend warrior ways just holding on for dear life.. lol
It is your life, and you need to know what you want to do with it. Some people enjoy being perfect with their meals, and vitamins, and giving up their social life, and others are perfect all week, and like to cut loose on the weekends and have a good time with their friends. I prefer the second, but that is just me. Maybe you can set a goal for yourself. Allow yourself 1 or 2 weekends a month to go crazy, and at least that way you can have it planned out, and not worry about it as much. When I know the weekend warrior needs to come out of his cage, I call up all my friends well in advance, and we all go out and have a good time for the weekend, or plan a lil camping trip or something, that way it was a weekend well spent, and I never have any regrets. I never just aimlessly decide to go out and hit the club randomly, though.

Ive been 18 (legal age) for about 7 months and have gone clubbing about 4-6 times.
Realistically in Sydney you need ATLEAST $200 for a basic night. Drinks are $6-10, and it takes me atleast 5-6 drinks to get going, then you might want to buy a round of drinks, club entry, taxis, food, etc.. And at the end of the night if you dont end up with a lady you go to bed feeling like shit and alot poorer.
Don't get me wrong we all need to let loose but in moderation.
I just had a mad night out, today i have eaten sod and I feel like C**p.
BUT.... This is the first weekend i have gone out in around 8weeks![]()
I say maybe 1 weekend in a month, if you go out more then dont drink and concentrate on diet to adjust for the late night etc![]()
I've been out twice in the last 8-10 weeks and i've shed 7%bf by killing those cals.
I used to drink twice a week, sometimes more
It's not even going out to the clubs. Just out fishing, hanging out, watching ufc fights and just eating whatever and having a few beers and maybe a couple shots.
I mean it's a ritual with me and my friends i've grown up with.
I can't go more then 2 weeks without doing it. I do try to keep a mind about myself, i'm not talking self destruction here just more or less not sticking to the diet for the weekend but then going right back to the book. How bad does the lifestyle of the weekend warrior hurt your gains?

i have been training for thirteen years now, and i dont drink or any of that stuff and never have.
when bulking, alow about 2-3 meals a week, but when cutting or maintain my cut look.
i would eat according to diet plan, then sat night just go out with my girl have a nice dinner, where i can really enjoy my food.
then we start all over againhehe.

Really now that I think about it, it's really a dumb question because it's going to be different for each person.
It's all about what your body genetically can handle.
Being that I have the long lean gene, I think that it won't hinder my progress to bad as my goals are to just make muscle gains with low fat gain. Now when cutting, I think if I want to drop body fat low, I think I WILL have to stick to a all week game plan.
I just can't give up my weekends and was wanting to know how bad does the weekend warrior lifting program slow down muscle gains.
I have a friend who drinks, smokes weed, doesn't diet/eats like shit, doesn't do cardio , he does train hard at weights and is naturally at easily 8%. Yes everybody is different.

I can get over the guys that naturally stay lean no matter what, but it's the guys that all they have to do is fart and to gain muscle mass.... that kills me!!!

well you know waht... im 5'9 and a half. my mom is 5'1 and my dad is 5'2 and a half. grandparents just about the same height. i cosnider myself blessed!
skip the beer and go straight for the bottle!! i started my 12 weeks of hell yesterday and drank my last Mickeys sunday night...(gotta love mickeys, afterall..its FINE malt likker!)
now its vodka and unsweetened cranberry juice (see how dedicated i am, even drinkin the unsweet stuff! lol)
twice a month, couple vodka cran's....ive fullfilled my disfunctional need to be intoxicated and kept the calories down to a min....
my issues have always been the 10pm carb cravings grrrrrrrrrrr, fought them off last night but it wasnt fun...
honestly bro, nobody but YOU can determine if what you are doing is slowing your progress.....genetics man.....how bout the guys who roll around in wheel chairs with shredded abs? or the guys walkin out of popeyes with a large box of chicken and are at less than 10% (mostly slave geneitcs however ...i live in the south..hehehe)
say no to beer....go buy a bottle (dont get hammered though, excessive alcohol isnt exactly friendly on your natural test production)
You may be onto something, the beer is probably the real issue, especially with it messing with test levels. The 2 day surge of non diet food prob is not as bad as I might think.
there is no 1 specific thing that is the sole culprit....two days of junk eating is going to be a factor as well....the main result the beer is going to have (unless your getting drunk constantly then there are more negative effects) is the excess carb/calories.....i mentioned booze/hard likker/moonshine (grandpa's sauce just takes 3 sips and ur good) because you get more alcohol with less calories....unless ur drinking girly foo foo sugar pile drinks....i stick with the occasional gin n tonics, vodka cran....etc

carbs/protein-4 calories per gram
1 standard drink = 10 grams of alchohol = 70 cals

yeah i'm just going to stop drinking beers and stuff, and great advice on buying the strong stuff. Maybe i'll grab a bottle of wild turkey 101 for nights I know i'll drink and keep it to about 3-4 shots.
I think I need the weekends to eat freely just to stay sane. Otherwise, I break down and then beat myself up to much about it and then I just feel like quitting. The fact of the matter to me is, that bad food, is GOOD!!!! I got to have atleast a day each week to eat what I want.

Its not about the calories to grams its the alcohol itself that is so harmful regardless of where it comes from just the combination of useless carbs and cals makes it that much worse but it IS the alcohol. Shall I grab a list of all the stuff alcohol does? I mean I thought people would realize this...... Its what holds peoples progress back so much IMO.

I know what your saying but I'm willing to bet a few cheats meals a couple times a week is no where near as bad as a full night of drinking and being drunk. At least it hasn't been in my progress during the offseason. After a good night of drinking back in the day after the games at our university it would take 2-3 days just to get my strength back and feel full again. I'll grab a list of how it slows down our protein synthesis etc etc
That never happened with out of the 56 meals I'd eat a week 4-6 would be cheat![]()

i totally get you with the negative effects of the alcohol itself....i agree...i was just saying that IF one INSISTS on getting tipsy....the lesser of evils would at least be a a shot as opposed to the beer....notorious says that he downs approx a 12 pack....i was just speaking with regards to the mountains of calories he's taking in along with the alcohol....
they have done studies to show how alcohol can actually inhibit your natural test production....amongst a myriad of other things im sure!
