I do audio books for school like lit classes when I can find the mp3s on piratebay for free.
And I can listen to them when I'm working or lifting, go in and have enough remembered to get an A or B on the test/quiz.
But when I'm trying to get involved in a book that I actually like, something that I picked myself and isnt just a mandatory reading, I'll always get the book.
But audiobooks DO WORK.
I just think the formula is something like this:
audio books = no long term retaining of specific facts, you may remember a vague concept or the story, but after time you do forget really quickly.
paper books = much better chance you will remember facts and specifics, so if its something you think is actually worth learning, you'll read it. Otherwise audios are def the way to go imo.
So I say both have their pros and cons.

^^This make much sense, I have equally heard/or read of the thesis/ or sentiment that widely claim that auditory retention is much superior than visual retention. This, off course, simply mean we, humans, tend to remember things we heard much better than things we have seen. But for me, having been used to one of the old ways of learning thru reading, I find audiobooks less appealing to my memory but will try to work on it. I think it is about getting use to it.
