The 'pledge' has very socialistic origins (Francis Belamy was an avowed Christian Socialist) and the way we're raised to accept it is pure indoctrination stemming from none other than the progrssive era. In fact, the way many students recited the pledge was with the Bellamy salute. Their hands were outstretched with palms downward. That is until the nazi's salute was considered too similar, which it was. Not to mention it's an egregious violation of the First Amendment.

Caring about your country and being forced to 'Pledge Allegiance' to a flag are not analogous. I would think if anyone were against this kind of undeniable indoctrination it would be you.

I am all for Americans being nationalistic and caring about our (original) ideals values, we have come so far I am not even sure if we have any "values" left.

With that said, I also expect the people to question the Gov't and hold it completely accountable, should it no longer serve the will of the people, then it should be disbanded and started anew.

Our country was founded against the idea of nationalism and for the idea of federalism (with a small f). Which is precisley why we have a Federal and not a National government. Hamilton was a nationalist and look at what good that did us.
