    Very nice!

Could you explain what happens to the lens to get the background out of focus? The depth of field? Some shots I see are really out of focus (the back ground) then some just a little.Would appreciate if you could expand on this too

Its all down to the aperture which controls the depth of field, in short a very small aperture opening will keep everything in focus from something close up to far away, but a large aperture opening will keep a slice of the photo in focus and blurs the background out, different aperture openings will give different effects on the background. You will also need to adjust the shutter speed when opening the aperture.

    Great pics.

No, its just a compact Nikon, your right about the over exposure, ive tried to mess around with it in edit but cant seem to do anything, great pic tho!

unfortunately there's nothing you can do to overexposed pixels in a digital image; the pixels simply hold no value other than plain white - an underexposed image is good for digital and can be played around with in photoshop.

camera 35mm film is good at handling overexposure.

Your on a good hobby here mate, i really enjoy photography myself too.

Hey Goose, sorry for the late reply, i switch my cam to a Aperture Priority mode A, then Zoom my lens out to its wide angle setting and increase the f-number to maybe f22.
sometimes i even have to increase the f number, this particular pic was taken with a tripod, which minimizes the shake .......
But Marcus is more technical on explaining how it actually works mechanically, i can just tell you how i did it. lol
