An EFFING lb. heavier on a cut diet?

Today like every Saturday morning was my weekly weigh-in. Congrats to me, I gained a full pound - unfortunately i'm on a very strict cut diet.

I don't see how that's even possible - I am super strict, putting more into a diet than i've EVER done in the past, 10 times over, and I gain a pound? I know scales aren't the most accurate way to gauge fat loss, but it's all I have - my body looks the same as last week. I'm on 1900 calories daily and just don't get it. I did nothing different, didn't eat anything heavy last night, and made sure I was completely 'emptied' before I weighed in.

I've done weight watchers - which from a health/bodybuilding standpoint is a CRAP diet - and consistently lost weight week after week. Now i'm living and dying by diet and gaining weight? It just doesn't add up.

I don't mean to sound like a baby crying over 1lb, but when you put SO much time and energy into a diet, you live week to week chasing that 'high' you get from the weight loss. I don't know what else I can do, i'm at wits end.

My camera is broken. =( I ordered a new power cable (hopefully that's what the problem is) and should have it this week, so i'll most likely be taking pics at the end of the week, which will be 6 weeks strong on this diet. I'll definitely post up.

Thanks for the links Crazy. I've never had much luck with supps like those; the CLA is probably ok, but the stacker type supps like Razor 8 I have always found to be crap.

As for the Top Keto diet - I am definitely intersted and actually have already considered it - BUT I don't want to abandon this program only 5 weeks into it... I need to give it a chance, maybe 3 months tops to see what it can do. If I jump ship now i'll never know. If by the end of March i'm very unhappy with the results, the Top KETO diet is next on my agenda.

you do know that drinking 16oz of water will increase your weight a pound right?

Irrelevant, sometimes I gain weight, you need to look at the month to month basis.

Oh and you should always weigh yourself in the morning upon waking, after using the bathroom. It's the most accurate.

Thanks for the encouragement! I know that I need to stick with it for AT LEAST 3 months... if I give up now i'll never know for sure what I could have accomplished.

Makes perfect sense, however I didn't eat or drink anything prior to my weigh-in...

Jav - that's exactly what I do. Every Saturday morning, first thing, after using the bathroom.

Don't get all freaked out; fat loss isn't linear

Meaning I shouldn't expect to see a steady/gradual decrease from week to week? Should I be seeing it go UP though?

i wasn't being condescending so i don't understand the disrespect, i was merely telling you that in case you had woken up and, like most people do since you dehydrate while you sleep, drank water, it could have caused that

D7M makes a good point, weight can fluctuate throughout the day and from day to day

how about your salt intake? did you check that?
how about electrolyte levels? amount of carbs? etc...

    don't worry about it

Phate...i am absolutely SURE he didn't intend any disrespect. he is just frustrated because even though your suggestion makes sense...it doesn't apply to him because he didn't drink anything.

I am not sure what the "jerk off" smiley means but maybe he forgot to jerk off that morning...perhaps that would be about a 1/2 pound depending on how backed up he was...lol

1lb is nothing, your weight can fluctuate pretty heavily depending on when you weigh yourself, a 5lb fluctuation doesnt suprise me even in 1 day.

Phate - I'm VERY sorry for the misunderstanding! I did not take your comment as condescending at all, nor did I intend any disrespect in my reply. Honestly, I had no idea that was a 'jerk off' smiley; I thought he was scratching his chin... as if to wonder about something... e.g. me wondering why i'm a lb. heavier, that's all! I'm on this board basically putting my life into your (collective) hands - I wouldn't bite the hand that feeds me! So again, I apologize for any misunderstanding.

Now to answer your questions - I guess you could say my salt intake is moderate; it's not something i've been ultra aware of, but maybe I should be due to water retention? Electrolyte levels - I have no idea. Carb intake is always relatively low (around 130g daily) except for my refeed day, which is once a week and I get in about 300g carbs. Refeed is Sunday, and weigh in is on Saturday, so they are as far apart as possible. Hope this helps!

no prob bro, and like we've said, it doesn't matter, weight will go up and down constantly, but i would bet it was a little water retention, nothing to worry about at all

Thanks man. I was super pi$$ed when I created this thread (right after my weigh in), but have since accepted it and am looking forward to my weigh in this Saturday. I'll post an update right after.

You're right, it's probably water retention anyway - it wouldn't make any sense to think it would actually be a lb. of bodyfat, I think THAT would be near impossible with a caloric deficit. =)

yeah, a lb of fat is 3500 calories, so with a caloric deficit i doubt you gained a lb of fat lol
