Post in the computer section bro you'll probably get more answers
Or PM Dsm he knows what he's talking about
buy a MAC and u wont have those problems///
Oh crap he's uploading all his viruses!
But on a serious note, you need a copy of windows before you do anything
1. Buy a copy of Windows
2. Format the hard drive
3. Install Windows
It's easy as hell. Done it a thousand times.
Ok, i have Windows... So now I want to Format the comp and get rid of everything... But thats the million dollar question.. How do I format it and wipe it out.. I need step by step directions.. Thanks..
Ok if i remember correctly.
Insert windows disk, an press a key as instructed to boot from disk.
You pressed something for the windows agreement, yes of course.
Press enter to install a fresh copy of windows
When you get to the blue screen with a box in the middle you want to delete all partitions, this will ensure a clean installed. Don't choose the quick format as that might not delete everything.
Once all partitions have been deleted you should only have one unpartitioned drive, that's where you want to install the new copy, seletect and press enter. Make sure you choose the NTSF format.
Follow the steps from there.

as eddie said, press the key when it says boot from disk, from there youll get a screen asking you want to repair windows or install , choose install, its going to show you an old partition for your existing windows installation. My advice is to delete that partition and make a new one to avoid having a leftover windows.old folder. From there just follow the onscreen instructions.
When he deletes the old one there won't be a partition, yes your right it'll automatically partition it for you in the unpartioned space, i like two partitions but its a matter of preference
Take it best buy tell them you want a hard drive and want windows reloaded.
Put other hard drive in trash.
Its a perfectly good drive. Every OS has to be reinstalled every couple years just to keep the system at max performance. Normal maintenance, just like cleaning the inside of the tower, it has to be done. Bestbuy is going to cost him, i could guide him for half the price if he wants too.
I remember reading a microsoft support document saying recommended reinstall every 8 months. ha
what brand computer
what version of windows?
if you have windows vista and above you should have a recovery partition.
Part of the harddrive is blocked off already and will reinstall everything for you
Google is your friend
lol u dont wanna keep installing a new os every 8 months thats crazy that would destroy your hard drive faster plus if u change any hardware and u keep installing a new os your cdkey will get disabled then u have to call microsoft fax them a copy of your sales slip and they will give u a new cdkey but this is a one time thing next time u call they will tell u to buy a new copy
this is why i download off of torrents
quick formats will give your hard drive bad sectors after to many times and u might as well throw it out the window
the real reason you download off torrents is because your a cheap skate like myself![]()
Torrents are to risky now a days, its all about the usenet
to second my first post.....
If its an hp keep tapping F12 after the logo and youll boot to recovery partition
acer/emac/gateway is either alt F11 or just F11
dell press F8 choose repair your computer option then last option for system recovery or image
pretty much all vista computers the F8 trick will get you to the recovery partition and then you can reformat and install windows on its own
xp howver many manufacters provided discs instead
When it comes to Anti-Virus programs, you get what get what you pay for. You really think that a free AV program has people working around the clock constantly updating their databases ? If you do your crazy. Put out a couple bucks and get a half decent AV program.
I use Kaspersky (KIS) : Kaspersky Internet Security, it includes a firewall program, pop-up block, anti-virus program and much more.
