Insulin sensitivity is a very important concept. Insulin (obviously a very anabolic hormone in the body) sensitivity is at its peak post-workout. You want to take advantage of this! By spiking your insulin levels at the right time (via simple sugars), you drive amino acids (protein) into your muscles at an incredible rate. I think something like Gatorade is better to use than dextrose. First, it's the only thing scientifically proven (in "supplement" form) to rehydrate you. Second, it gives you sodium and potassium. Third, it tastes great after your workout. Good luck.
