never got to see Jim Brown play, but love jerry rice, great player.
Jerry Rice has to be up there. I think Peyton will pass him after a few more Super Bowls
I agree with you

Everything I dislike about TO, I like in Jerry Rice...
Jerry Rice
Slightly biased here, but Peyton Manning is the best player ever. But yeah skill wise, I'd go barry sanders.
hard to beat 5.2 yards PER CARRY
Jerry Rice
5.4 WOW...u made me do some searching as always been a bo jackson fan and agree he was a SUPER BADASS
bo was VERY talented TWO SPORTS PROFESSIONALLY "He also reportedly ran a hand-timed 4.13 40 yard dash, still considered the fastest verifiable 40 time at an NFL Combine" (wikipedia)(FVCK!!!!!!)
I guess his 4 seasons (looks like 750 attempts is required) is the reason why that 5.4 isnt in the books
shame
Jim Brown ftw!
Jerry Rice
Barry Sanders was better than Bo hands down.
QB goes to Steve Young one of the first QBs to start leaven the pocket.
Hardest Hitter is either Bill Romanaski or Jack Tatum
Another vote here for Barry Sanders as one of the best RBs EVER.
another vote for Rice
i was just watching video of johnny unitas and one has to wonder with todays technology and equipment how good he could of actually been.they dont cal him the golden arm for nothing.
there is tons of stuff like the fields are much better opposed to the crappy fields they use to play on, the balls have more grip, the recievers are faster and better in todays game, the training rooms are way better, the trainers are better, the padding is so different also, the qb pads are so much lighter, back then them qb pads were heavy as hell, i mean the list could go on and on.
hard to call anybody the "greatest" if all they played is four seasons. true. he had some impressive stats. but in order to be in the category of "greatest", you also have to stand the test of time. four seasons don't cut it.
my money is on Jamarcus Russell. "Future of the Franchise" baby! "Arm like a rocket". And paid at $10k per completion, what more can anyone ask for?
EVERYONE played on all that back then and EVERYONE plays on and with what they have now and in between...
my argument when it comes to records, etc...is when the league constantly changes rules then some of it becomes lets say tainted.....for instance....more protection for the quarterback this last decade or whatever(ok well that means that a qb has a better advantage TODAY)....no facemask(favors the offense)....etc etc. etc... of course some rules are important to protect from injury (perfect example facemask) but u have to admit doesnt that change the game and history/records
Jim Thorpe. The greatest athlete to ever live.
On his college team he played as running back, defensive back, placekicker, and punter. When he beat Harvard 18-15 he scored all 18 points for his team by scoring a touchdown and kicking 4 field goals.
The year Carlisle won the the championship he scored 198 points in 12 games.
The year they beat Army he ran for a 92 yard touchdown that was called back because his team mate commited a penalty. Thorpe responded the very next play by running for 97 yards and a touchdown.
I know there have been some great players out there but Jim Thorpe's resume also included track and field, baseball, basketball and the Olympics.

Sometimes you have to let the best man do the job. Thats how Wilt Chamberlin scored a 100 points in a single game.
Well yes it did. He played some pro sports too. I have always like him and felt sorry for him because he never got the recognition he deserved because of the predudice against other races at that time.

I watched Joe Montana against Steve Young and the 49ers when Montana was in Kansas City. Montana orchestrated one of the best 2 minute comebacks I have ever seen. You could literally see the monkey on Steve Young's back turn into a gorilla.
My Top Ten:
10. Dan Marino
9. John Unitas
8. Peyton Manning
7. Barry Sanders
6. Joe Montana
5. Dick Butkus
4. Lawrence Taylor
3. Walter Payton
2. Ray Lewis
1. Jim Brown
Jerry rice hands down.
