    Odd pinning experience today,any ideas?

So this morning when I was finished with my injection, I removed the needle and a small rooster-tail of blood/gear squirted from my glute. The injection was as normal as it gets and totally routine. 1.5" pin 2ccs slow injection and 5 seconds from completion to removal of pin. This has never happened before and I would like to make sure it doesnt again. I may have wasted a good ml!

you probably nicked or went through a vain so that probably explains the exessive blood...its happened to me a few times and only in the glutes for some reason...theres a good chance that it was more blood than gear that came out but its impossible to know for shure...

You have to aspirate any injection. Push the needle into the injection site, pull back on the plunger a little and see if blood comes into the syringe, if no then you're good to go. If yes, you hit a vein, move to a different spot.

if he had injected into a vein he would know.....and if you went through or nicked a vein then aspirating whould not nessessarly show blood in my experience...

    Z track your next injection.
This can be done by pulling the skin to the side of the injection spot when you have finished remove needle and release skin, the injection hole in the muscle and in the fleshy part of the skin will not line up keeping everything in the muscle.

the last thing i would do is wiggle the pin bro you should be as gentle and steady/smooth as possible to lessen the chances of nicking a vein or dammaging muscle tissue wich can lead to more post injection pain days after imho....

i would say from nursing this is the best method for keeping solutions in the site, never wiggle the needle inside because you basically wigglin a small scalpel in ur muscle. the only time i had any blood and solution come out is thigh pins.
