I have to agree with pretty much everything Cal said in both posts. I don't know that we were MEANT to eat meat, it's been proven that early man was a plant eater/gatherer before a hunter (berries, etc) - but we've most certainly adapted to eat meat.
I'm a HUGE animal lover, and I struggle with the morality of all the meat I eat - and especially the DOZENS of egg yolks i'm throwing out all the time. It makes me feel awful. However, I make sure I eat everything I buy (again, I can't help the yolk thing - not getting fat because I feel bad for chickens), no meat ever goes to waste, and most importantly I have respect for the animal that lost its life so I could be nourished. Nothing else 'feels bad' in the animal kingdom - it's the food chain and as natural as things can be. It's more about the mass production and DISGUSTING amount of waste I see, particularly in this country (US).
Sorry I derailed your thread OP. Cal touched on something I feel strongly about, and I felt compelled to post.
