BUBBLES, small and large, in syringe help

today, while taking my second ever injection, I noticed very tiny bubbles throughout the test that couldn't be surfaced by plucking. I disregarded it, thinking back on a thread about air bubbles. I stuck it in, and just as i was about to plunge, I noticed a big bubble. I pulled the needle out, and the bubble was the size of a bb, or bigger. Would that have hurt me??
also, what about the teeny bubbles? i don't know if they came from drawing the test out wrong, or from shaking the bottle after putting it under warm water.

Correct me if i'm wrong guys but the real problem would be if air enters your blood stream???? Hence clearing air from the pin?!?!

You can let the syringe set a moment before you set it.

This did not occur during aspiration, did it?

if "aspiration" is pulling the test from the vial into the syringe, then yes i believe so. I did a horrible job. i think i went way too fast.

If you aspirate then you shouldnt be in a vein and even if you were in a vein you'd need 2ml or more of air to cause problems....

I am curious as to where you heard that. I was always under the impression that a small amount of air could cause some serious problems. I would be interested in reading up on this if you have any info.

There was an article written on this site somewhere by a nurse, also a simple google will give you a wide range of answers, ranging from 5ml to 200ml. This is something that you really cant put down to personal experience so i always air on the side of caution and say 2ml...

You are good to go just make sure u pull the plunger back when In to put it In simple terms

Small bubble in a vein will give you pain similar to what divers call 'the bends.' 'Aspirate'-the process of creating negitive pressure in the barrel to ensure the tip of the needle is muscle, and not vien/artery. You do this right before you depress the plunger to inject the dose.

I always leave a small amount of air to push out all the AAS in the pin.
Give the syringe a flick or two with your finger and all the small bubbles
should be gone.
