what is HPTA??
this is why I asked him if he will just get a sperm test done, if I am not pregnant this month. this will be month #7 for us actively trying. we never had to try before, both of our other pregnancies were oops/surprises, we were trying to not get pregnant. so i cant imagine what would be so different now besides that one cycle he did. However, its been 2 years now since he did it so its hard to believe it could still be that. He has a few friends who have done many more cycles than him and still conceived, while on cycles and in between cycles.
He agreed to get a Sperm test done after this month. before he starts this cycle. I plan on talking to him about it all and showing him what you all said here on this website. I hate that he wants to do this when he doesnt work out as much as he should. he says hes just "lazy". like doing the test is "cheating" so to speak, just to boost him along the way. if you ask me, i would totally disagree and think he should work out more often and make it more of a priority over other hobbies and things he enjoys. you only get what you put into it ya know?![]()
how do you reset the HPTA?
yep he did it without me knowing about it and if i would have known i would have looked into it first. and secondly, i would have made him do some sort of PCT. Other issue is that he doesnt think about "oh, i might not be able to have more kids" by doing this one cycle. b/c he never really cared to have anymore kids. he told me after our son was born maybe when he was 5 we could talk about it. well, i talked to him about it sooner and he agreed to start trying beginning of this year. he doesnt think that the ONE cycle he did would have caused this much difficulty getting pregnant again.. but now he is thinking something MUST be wrong since im not pregnant yet, when we once were "fertile myrtle". ive had a few tests done already so i think im good to go. if his sperm test comes back normal, then i will have one more test done just to rule everything out. But, he agreed to have that done first. so, we'll see.
An aggressive PCT regimen would be a good place to start. Have him get a male hormone panel done, and may as well throw in the basic blood tests too (cholesterol, lipid panel, RBC, etc), not just sperm.
That'll also give key information about his ability to produce little ones.
