    What fish do you eat?

Hey guys I'm just wondering what some good lean type of fish are around to eat. I've been eating tuna and chicken breast for years and want to get into something different. Any suggestions? Something boneless and low fat..

I eat pollack or coley for white fish. Mackerell for oily fish. But I don't live on the underside of the world!

As you are the biggest island in the world don't you have a huge choice? When I visited Oz I was a big fan of the mah mahi and baramundi.

BTW is that you in your avi, and is that your real chest?

Salmon is great, but very high in fat - albeit excellent fat. Same with Sardines, Bluefish, Mackerel, etc. The oily fish.

^^^ Yup. If you're not eating at least 1 piece/day, you should be supplementing with fish oils IMO.

actually love fish more than lean red meat, chicken...

as stated above..mahi is delish when fresh..to me when frozen it changes its flavor..and has a chicken like texture/a little body to it instead of the normal delicateness of fish...kind of like a tuna steak

Mahi, done right, is good stuff!

Also swordfish, shark, etc. The 'steak' type fish.

Ive been wierd about fish the last few years. I cut way back. Just read so much about toxins and heavy metals. About a month ago i read an article on the frozen talapia you get thats from china - it was tested and its full of various toxins and heavy metals (like 40x higher than safe!). I used to LOVE shelfish like scallops and mussels and clams - but now I hardly ever eat filter feeders like that anymore. All the oil, toxins , sewage and heavy metals in our oceans. They say even much of the farm raisxed fish is contaminated.
I prob am overly paranoid and I care about this stuff so much more than i did 10 years ago but fish is prob on my menu 10x / year or less at this point.

if you can find it, speckled trout, red fish, snapper (of all kinds), bass (green trout), saccailait (crappie), and few others.

My latest fish dish - grilled (directly over the open flame on a grill) tilapia, rubbed with creole seasoning and drizzled with EVOO. When it comes off the grill, generously douse with lemon juice, and pile some mild salsa on top.

its a legit concern, but all foods are contaminated anyway! so i take Glutathione injectables and my liver benn the healthiest its ever been, including my whole body for that mater, and i can eat anything without worrying!

If you live in OZ then you are in luck. We have alot better fish here than is available in most countries, the list below are all great fish that I could eat every day!:

    Flathead
    Whiting
    Snapper
    Red Emperor
    Sweetlip
    Mahi Mahi
    Flake (gummy or school shark)
    Mulloway
    etc...

Most of these are available fresh from supermarkets but markets are your best bet, if you are in VIC check out the Queen Victoria Markets seafood section. All of the above and more. If you go every week then there will be no need to freeze any of your fish.
