Actually yes it makes a difference. I hit a nerve a couple of times going fast and of course had a severe muscle twitch/jump. Going slow when I get close to a nerve I stop, back off a little and then continue. The nerve seems to move off to the side and in the last 2+ years I have never hit a nerve.
If you inject fast; push the plunger down hard/fast then think about what is happening. The liquid is squirting out at high volume blasting into your muscle causing a bruise. That's why most people get sore IMO.
