I believe it's real. The cops can seize your vehicle if used in the commission of a drug related crime.... dealing especially.

In the Cali central valley, i've seen some really nice corvette's with tinted windows cruising up and down the highways. Turns out they were police vehicles. I imagine they were seized. Can't imagine highway patrol springing for corvettes?
