New doctor visit a bust, Testopel? FML

Well I had high hopes going to see a new doctor that mine referred me too, someone who was supposed to know more about trt and using hcg. Right from the beginning he said "giving yourself self weekly shots is just not the way to go about this." And handed me a brochure on TESTOPEL. A surgically implanted pellet that is supposed to regulate me for 3-6 months! " You don't need hcg, this is the way to go." Like the damn drug rep was in the hall listening or something. Very disappointed, and had my first episode of wanting to pull over and rip someones head off on the drive home. He would have deserved it trust me.
Well guys, I obviously don't know anything about TESTOPEL, any body heard of it, used it, know someone who uses it? Feeling pretty lost about this whole situation. Fk'er wouldn't even draw the labs I asked for!! Only a psa and total test. Maybe one or two more but by that time I was ready to leave without em. Any advice will be greatly appreciated, I'm really feeling shitty about this now and wondering if I should just give up. But no way do I want to go back to the "old" me!

I heard the pellets can be good. Not true? I know the downside is a lack of flexibility on dose, but I would do the pellets if they gave me a consistent, adequate dose.

Yes, your are quite right. In theory its the ultimate process: implantation of a large test depot with very controlled diffusion.

The problem, of course, is the implantation process looks something like Attila the Hun might do on his lunch break

If someone ever masters this process, I would predict most would go with it.

^^^^ Ahhhhh, I forgot the tool they use for implantation is huge. Probably not for me. Hell, I don't even like to use a needle larger than 25g.

Did two 4-month rounds of Testopel Pellets. First round was 10 Pellets took my total T up to 602 at the 2nd month. First month I felt good, second month ok, third and forth month felt like shit. My total T at the 4th month was 350. On my second round of Implants I got 12 Pellets. The first month I felt great, second month good and my total T was 703, third month ok and the forth month I felt like shit. Plus I ended up having a quarter size of scare tissue build up at the incision were the pellets were implanted. I am done with the Pellets and have started injections ever 3rd day with 60mg. I already feel much better after only a week. Good luck if you decide to go with the pellets.

Thanks for all the info guys. He told me it would hold my total test at around 800 from anywhere to 3-6 months? Not sure if I like the idea of going in every 4 months for something like that. I do have a friend who has been on the shots as well and is pretty sure he is going to pellots. I think maybe I'll let him be the lab rat and see how it goes. I still have my perscription that is good for 2 more 2000ml/200mg and still have half of my first one left. Gonna try to find someone who will prescribe me the hcg.

Ditch this pellet loving doctor! Why should he be the one telling you what is, or is not the way to go? You're the patient, it's your body, and injections are FDA approved, just the same as gels & pellets. He says you don't need HCG, because he really has no clue about its purpose and benefits. He won't check the needed labs, again, because he has no clue. This means he will never address the need to control E2. It's a criminal act in mind with what these doctors get away with.

I went to a PA. after A week of binge drinking and got on androgel after my test came back with low T. but It was expensive and He would not put me on shots without having to come in and have it administered at the office. wich was not cost effective.

There's that kind of micro patient care, then there's the rest of us that somehow manage to function with giving our own injections. Your doctor don't trust you, how does that make you feel?

It will NOT keep your levels in steady state of total T at 800 for 4-6months. The doctor I had do my implants told me the same thing. You might be at 800+ the first month but then it begins to drop. Be careful it's a great money maker for the doc's.

from what I read, uneven disbursion and uneven blood levels is enough to keep me away. If you want something long acting, look into Nebido

My dad went from the gel to the pellets. The pellets were completely ineffective. He also said getting them implanted was very painful.

Sounds like docs are doing the same thing with pellets that they are with injections, they don't understand half life at all, they set up protocols based on ACTIVE life and leave patients feeling like shit the last half of the alotted time period........what is so hard to understand about this stuff? Do doctors study anything drug related or do they just diagnose and prescribe based on what some slick dick drug rep tells them? Any of you Docs want to help us understand the wall of ignorance that we run into with some docs?

BTW...Pellets seem to have multiple negatives in my mind

unpredictable half life for given patient (3-6 months seems awfully vague to me)

The probability of health issues caused by low t for 2-3 months at the end of each cycle.

How many other hormones are jacked up by the severe drop in exogenous Testosterone for those last couple of months.

This stuff is scary IMO
I'm sure more things will become obvious as time goes on.

I think your all right about the pellots. I thought about it the first day, but that was about it. His attitude was enough to let me know to stay clear of his office again. I've been on google trying to track down a good doc, someone that has any background I can read about. The pellot doc tried to tell me once a week was too often for injections, and in same breath, said your probably having highs and lows from it?? Isn't that the whole reason for injecting at least once or week or sooner. I'm still waiting on the labs they drew up just to see what they were and will post when I get them. Was thinking of maybe going from 200mg a week to 75 every 3.5 days. Depending on what my labs say I guess. Hopefully I can atleast get some input on how much test I should be taking a week from the labs they pulled. Good news is workouts still feel great all week long, attitude, and total way I feel is still great, except for this doc crap. The boys down low are pretty much screaming for help, when I get an erection they completly dissapear, and get pretty sore.
