    Eating before sleep?

Hey all, just curious what your take was on this matter.

I have heard that eating right before you sleep is a bad idea because your bodies metabolism slows down and this causes you to retain a lot more fat. Is this just BS? I am really interested in what some of you guys think about this.

oh I see, sounds like a lot of protein. Do you think it makes a difference if you take in a bunch of carbs before bed?

IMO it doesn't matter at all.

If you're carb sensitive or are just worried about it make it a pro/fat meal like 405 said.

But if you're eating within your caloric requirements and hitting your macros for the day then the timing of the meal makes no difference at all.

Remember that we grow during rest. Eating protein before bed ensures you're providing your body the nutrients it needs to repair and grow while you sleep. Carbs would be dependent on individual goals. As Sgt Hartman said, hit your macros.... storing bodyfat should become much less of a concern regardless of when you eat your carbs, within reason.

^^ Did I mention chicken?? lol

    I have 2 different pre-bed meals:

    Workout days:
    1/2 scoop ON casein
    1/2 scoop ON Pro Complex
1/2 cup 1% milkfat cottage cheese
    1 cup oats
    1/2 banana
    2 fish oil

roughly 45g protein, 75g carbs, 10g fat (yep, 75g carbs before bed... #gaining)

    Non-workout days:
1/2 cup 1% milkfat cottage cheese
    1 scoop myofusion
    2tsp natty PB

    roughly 45g protein, 10g carbs, 12g fat

Note that in both cases, my meal prior to this is substantial - 7oz 95/5 lean ground beef + carbs (workout day) or veggies (not workout day) so there is no need to be concerned about 'going catabolic' overnight.

No form of caffeine 6hrs before bed and a slow release protein mix with some vits before bed. Need to feed the body and protein also helps make melatonin

I always have caffeine within a couple hours of sleeping it does not affect me. I work out in the evenings so I have to take it closer to bed time.
