Price Discussions in the HRT Forum

Ladies and Gents, the discussion of prices as of late has become a touchy subject. Coming straight from the top, there are to be NO price discussions. However, also coming from the top, if there's an "item" that is coming directly from the doctor's office, then that's different, but there's a point where a line needs to be drawn.

So, talking prices in general needs to be avoided. I know it's a little confusing, as we've had civil discussions over the years that involve prices, and even various staff members get into the conversation. If we go by the rules that are in place to the entire site, then it would forbid any price talk at all. The HRT Forum has been regarded a little differently in some cases, being that the majority of us are maturely discussing matters from a clinical standpoint, with doctor supervision.

To conclude, it's a slippery slope, and depending on the subject and how it's articulated, any prices mentioned stand a chance to be reviewed and scrutinized; possibly causing the post to be edited and/or the thread to be closed. For me personally, from this point forward, I will no longer be discussing any prices on medications. Anytime that I have ever felt the need to make mention of a medication price, it has always been supported from a legal doctor/clinic. However, as jpk noted (in another thread), there were some recent edits done on legit pharmacy prices (even small co-pays), which means there could be different interpretations on the matter. The closest I'll get to that might be lab work and/or the costs of a doctor screening / consultation.

i understand the concern the staff has, but like PetrX noted, for a legit pharmacy i think it won't hurt to mention prices especially if some one is looking for a good deal to refill his/her prescription. we're talking legal scripts and pharmacies here, not UGLs. but i respect this form and it's staff, so if thats what they want then be it.

I was just thinking about this, re: GFA's thread about ancillary stuff.

Seems that pricing on anything that requires a script and is purchased at a pharmacy should be OK.

Off limits would be talk about UG suppliers and product lines that might conflict with the sponsors.

Can we get a general list of what items shouldn't be mentioned?

I'm fine with whatever the admin wants since they pay the bills, just don't want to trip over something in the future.

Here's the the situation ... The HRT Forum is a sub entity of a site, where most of the attraction is centered around steroids. With the exception of prescriptions, steroid sales are illegal (this much we all know). As I see it, some may view the discussion of our legal prices to be too close for comfort with areas that would be a complete conflict if prices get mentioned.

Bass, it's no secret, I personally don't have a problem with 'legal' price talk, as ALL of my medications and therapies are overseen by a doctor. But, like you, I will respect and adhere to the rules. Keep in mind, the first paragraph of my post has two (2) points made by Admin ... No price discussions, but if a product coming from the doctor's office it is different, but there's a point where a line must be drawn. You would need to have Admin give you a complete clarification on that, as I don't want to put words in his mouth.

Yes, UGL's are a big no-no, and I would be the first to step in and stop a discussion regarding it. We had a member that was getting his "meds" from a trainer, and I (and others) made sure that he knew this wasn't going to be embraced in this forum. As I stated to Bass, the clarification would have to come from Admin.

As stated, it is a bit confusing, because we have had civil discussions on this in the past, where even Vets/Monitors alike participated. Technically, under the umbrella of the main site, price discussions are not allowed. But, if it comes directly from a doctor's office ...

On prices, this is my presumption, anything that could require a prescription I guess could and might be on the radar if a price is mentioned. JPKMAN brought up "Chicken Breasts" in another thread ... My interpretation would be that there's nowhere in the world that you need a script for chicken breasts, so if you feel overly compelled to share what you paid for lunch, I doubt anyone is going to come down on it. Again, there's a lot of interpretation on this.

This is a very legit area of the forum. Most questions are serious as are most answers.

I can't remember how many times someone has paid way to high a price for their prescriptions and we have helped educate.

As you know, most here are so because of a medical condition. And if we can help one member stay on their treatment plan by educating them on pricing for prescriptions we have done a good thing.

Also as you and admin knows, the whole price discussion rule was targeted at ug product and to eliminate that topic.

This question has been asked and answered and it seems someone jumped the gun without thinking or knowing about the past discussions on this subject.

On a related note, there was a price spike at Walgreens for test-cyp. They are the cheapest I have found for the Watsons brand. Does anyone if there is another pharmacy that is cheaper? Maybe Costco or Sams?

Unfortunately my insurance doesn't cover it but they pay for super expensive Androgel which is over 10x the cost.

It doesn't make too much sense why the Gel is covered, but not the cyp. Most of mainstream medical is biased for the gels, so they must be doing a better marketing job in the field ...

mine will pay for gel. And at end og gel era I was using 3 tubes of Testim daily. Never a question.

Switched to IM Cypionate and I have to get God to write a letter be fire insurance will approve for one year.

I just called costco, WOW so much cheaper. $30 less per 10 ml vial 200mg/ml over walgreens with prescription plan. Now I just hope they can get it

I went to my local Costco at the very start of TRT. I think they filled the Cyp once, but then a lady pharmacist looked at me & wouldnt fill it the next time. WTF, lol?

but even that went sour on me
i had thought that pharmacy's got letters from the dhea or something to have them figure out the dosing for test and vials, etc.
i wont know til may/june how its gonna be for me and refills

If my script says 200mg weekly for a 200mg/ml 10 ml vial and I go for a refill 8-9 weeks later where is the problem? Im guessing I shouldnt have any problems. Ill find out in 2 months.

you wont have a problem with your prescription like u stated it

problem is the rx in florida is only good for 6 months thus if i have 5 refills but where i used to be able to refill a new 10ml vial every month...the phamacist does the math and says you have plenty left for another month or 2....

Ya wasnt clear tho. API said he went back for a refill and they said no. Scripts in NJ are good for a year I think. My current script is 8 months if I fill it every 2 months.

But back to original topic, costco is the cheapest I have found. Thanks for the heads up vette.

Brings down the cost of my weekly treatment to $3. Pftt! A protein shake costs more

Just noticed test has a long shelf life too. My vial doesnt expire till 2015.

Just picked up my test cyp (watsons brand) from Costco, 200mg/ml 10ml vial edit price removed ... Thanks again for the heads up! $30 less than Walgreens and like $60 less than CVS. Man the markup on this stuff is insane.

Also found out my script is only good till oct 2012 so I have to fill 3 more vials before then
