What happens if your worst fear comes true -- TEST shutdown!?

Can you guys explain? Also - are there any other drawbacks? Im 34....my test wasnt good to begin with. Yet everyone is always talking about DONTSHUT YOUR TEST DOWN yada yada.... so -- it sounds like i shouldnt be worried?
