I would be curious to know what type of broadheads you use for moose? Thats a big criiter with a bow. I wish I had more time to sit in stand with fall appraoching in the midwest and the trophy whitetails everywhere.

yeah bro, i've been hunting all my life. i only do morning hunts for archery - i don't have a garage to hang or deal with a large animal. so i use the remainder of the day to recover, dress out moose, and transport to refrigeration unit at my local meat cutter. i also use this time of year (archery season) to scout for the upcoming rifle hunt in Oct, provided im unsuccessful during the archery hunt. *i hunt 20mins from my place as i live in northern ontario.

no burgers - sausage. same thing though, really. i remove the tendies, neck roast, prime cuts of front and back quarters, and the rest is sausage (30%pork and my spices) we make our own sausage at a buddy's place. so, i do ask for burger from the butcher but make my own sausage with my spices.

i've been using a Bowtech Blackhawk. don't think they make them anymore but at the time (6years ago) they were the smallest (higher end) bow axle to axle you could buy. i believe the specs are 27", IBO 305ft/s i have mine set at 65lbs. it has a very sharp valley so it is not an entry level bow, by any means. it has a bit of a learning curve. but it is hands down the fastest, lightest, tree stand bow i have ever owned. great for walk and stalk too!

northern ont. i believe last year was the first year for open season elk hunting in ont. i didn't apply as this area is down south..too warm for me.

i hunt both. but mostly walk and stalk during archery for me. i hunt alone when i archery hunt.

125gn fix'd muzzy's bro. after i run one of those broad heads 1.25" hole through a moose, it wont be traveling anywhere far. i had one stand there and bleed out after i shot...he didn't take one step - didn't even know what happened. shot him at 12yds. *i 100gn for deer. same carbon arrows for both animals of course, but i simply adjust my Cobra sight pins - real fine sight. easy to adjust.

yeah its pretty tasty. had elk in Saskatchewan a couple years ago for the first time. i really like it, but i like moose meat more.

if you watch this video, i had a similar experience but with a rifle a few years back. she didn't lick my rifle, but she came within 3 yds of me standing against a tree. if you have never been this close to a wild adult moose, you haven't' lived. your heart is ready to explode out of your chest. i was so close i could clearly see the vegetation in between her teeth. and i could her smack of her saliva when she licked her lips and nose. they are a LOT bigger close up than what you see driving by on the hwy. it the most amazing adrenaline rush that i have personally experienced.

sorry guys, i guess i should have prefaced this with, i didn't see anything this morning. but i did see several roughed grouse. could have shot every one of them but the rule here during archery big game is you may not posses a rifle of any caliber while archery hunting big game WHILE RIFLE SEASON IS CLOSED.

I love my G5 Montec braodheads. Fixed blades, cut on contact! Solid as a rock. Man I thought ny Ross 331 with a 31" axle to axle was short. 27"? What is the brace height? Does not sound like a very forgiving bow but still nice if you shoot well.

8" brace height. and yes that's why i preffer fix'd over mechanical blade. i saw what those flimsy mechanical did after i hit a rib bone on a small deer. i can only imagine what would happen if they hit a rib bone on a moose?? no more mechanicals for me. i take my time and ensure a quick clean kill or i don't take the shot. tracking and recovering an injured adult moose in the norther cedar swamps is not my idea of a good time.

that is a large moose for sure but it appear waaaaay larger when photographed from the front and low like that. it's a common photographers trick to make the animal appear larger than what it really is. that photo makes the moose appear 25ft long lol

    i love it.

hoyt and mathews make several nice bows, but they're pricy. for the money, bowtech is where i spend my money. a solid company with second to none customer service and a quality built dependable bow. i like the single cam too, easy to adjust.

Amen. PSE and of course Diamond (now owned by Bowtech) are great affordable options.

    PSE makes a great bow.

but my second fav manufacturer of compound bows is hands down APA. they make one of the most versatile bows on the planet! my buddy has the VIPER and it's awesome! i love it! there's a host of little accoutrements built into the bow that makes life so much easier. if i didn't have my Bowtech i would seriously consider APA.
