    Question CA - CrossFit Anonymous

Is anyone actually willing to admit that they train this method on a BB Site?

Id like to try it but not full on. More of something to do in place of boring ass running.

    I ain't scurrrrrd. lol.

I started doing Crossfit in October twice a week. It has helped me lose about 5%bf. if you already work out consistently and do cardio then throwing in Crossfit 2-3 times a week will only make you stronger. To me its just a high intensity cardio/lifting session. But I have definitely seen the benefits of it !

Oh for sure. I'll mix in a Crossfit day. Create a workout for the day. Stick to it and complete the workout as fast as possible.

I actually just did the following
    21,15,9
    Power cleans
    Dips
    Inverted rows
    Kettle swings
    Split jerks
    Box jumps
    Walking lunge 150ft
    Half mile run

If you work fast you are dead tired afterwards. This wasnt a "certified" Crossfit workout. Just my own mix.

Never. I don't hate on other forms of exercise, and I know everyone has different goals, but a lot of the "cross fitters" I meet seem like d baggers. If you have to do cross fit to look like that year round you need to learn how to eat. But if you like cross fit, and your not a d bagger, then cross fit. Seems like a good all around exercise program. Tren>cross fit for looking good year round though.

I respect cf for sure. They are all around in shape like a true mma fighter. I say all around in shape cause many big bb can't run a few miles (there not expected too) and go to marathon runners who can't even bench there own weight. Obviously to each his own, but I have been surprised how strong some lean cf are.

It's good for functional fitness. But not my style. I do have several tires for flipping and sleds for dragging around my yard.

    TL;DR at bottom.

Its funny, Ill be honest now, I’ve been doing CrossFit for about 3 months, I was chatting with a mate that I hadn’t seen for about 7-8 years (I know I’m only 22 ha-ha, but someone I grew up with) and he was telling me how their 'Box' (Term for CrossFit gyms) was about to be open and I should come in and check it I out.

I spent a lot more time lurking on here than I’ve been registered for but somehow always felt there was a negative stigma towards CrossFit as a fitness method, so I wasn’t expecting much going in there to do this trail workout they had set up for me, as everything I had ever read was bagging CrossFitters as having poor form, super prone to injuries ect.

But I rocked up all the same as I’m not one to go off other peoples opinions, I had to give it a shot for myself. I rocked up and did this workout they call 'Fran'
Now it looks pretty simple on paper, 21-15-9 Reps of Thruster(45kg)/Pullups(BW), so all up its 45 Reps, so I did a quick warm-up, run 200mt, 15 pushups 15 air squats 15 situps and felt pretty good ready to attack it. We spent about 5 minutes going through form for a front squat/overhead press(thruster) and they mentioned that they would teach me 'Kipping Pullups' another time as there was a bit more involved in that and time was limited.

So we start the timer, and off I go, Bar to shoulders, and start doing thrusters, up to 5 and feeling pretty good, up to 9 and starting to get pretty warm already/heart rate heading straight up and I’m thinking, this shouldn’t be too hard, world record time is 1:53 and Fronings time is 1:58.

I make 14 and cant do another so I drop the bar to the ground, have about 15 seconds rest, pick it up, smash out another 5, break, another two, and then we start on the pullups, now I didn’t really have the most impressive stats coming into this, 140kg Dead/120kg Squat/95kg Bench. but i jumped up on the bar, pulled out about 12-14 reps, stopped, had a break, and did my last 7.

These workouts are performed for a time target. So workouts are x + x + x for time. or AMRAP(as many reps/rounds as possible) in specified time.

I got to the end of it, took me 8:14. and i was totally fvcked. this was my introduction to CrossFit, and walking out of there after that workout I was addicted.

What got me hooked is the "Constantly Varied" the only workouts that are ever repeated are the 'Benchmark' workouts, but every day you show up, you’re doing something different. I never thought I would be one to pick it up, but my goals going to the gym were never to be the biggest baddest mofo body builder, I just wanted to be lean, and built enough that I look good shirt on & off.

SO whilst you’re never going to be the next MR O, or a Marathon runner, Your GPP(General Physical Performance) will be outstanding. I guess you could consider it a 'Jack of All Trades' kind of training, but your not lacking, and you can end up stupidly 'Fit'

I love it, and I’m an advocate!

PS: All the shit that you see and hear about how shit CrossFit is form/Injury wise isnt really true, that stigma comes due to the MILDLY Retarded group of people that you see in everyday life, it just so happens, that alot of them seem to radiate to CrossFit box's. Comparable I guess to the ass clowns that you see at the gym daily, doing 'Swinging Dumbell Curls' 'Curved-Back Back-Squats' etc.

Look up the games competitors such as Dan Bailey, Rich Froning, Mikko Salo, Chad Mackay. Watch a few youtube videos, im sure you'll be impressed.
I spend ALOT of time on practicing form more than anything else, and following the C2E structure(Core to Extremity) all of the lifting is as safe as you make it.

I can spend alot of time going into depth about how everything works, and if you have any questions feel free to shoot me a PM and I will go further into depth with anything you want to know

    PPS: Rich Fronings Stats
    Height:5'10"Weight:195 lb
    MAXES
    Clean & Jerk 325 lb
    Snatch 270 lb
    Deadlift 525 lb
    Back Squat 425 lb
    Max Pull-ups 70

TL;DR - CrossFit is Awesome, Read my post you lazy fvcker!!!

A big reason why I started is I absolutely hate cardio. I f#cking hate it with a burning passion. So I thought what better way to shred some fat is trying out Crossfit. My gym bought the building next door and started a CF gym. The first month was free to members. I had nothin to lose. But I really was amazed after 40 mins my shirt was soaked and I was whooped. So now I incorporated 3 days a week for CF.

The only down fall that I have found is; most guys have certain days they do certain body parts. Well you may go to CF on Monday and do legs when you planned on doing legs on your own on Tuesday. So I have to continually changed my schedule around. But 90% of people that go to CF where I go do nothin but CF.

All depends on your goals for your training Bodybuilding is about bringing up muscles, sculpting your body for perfect symmetry, working on lagging body parts, you won't achieve this with crossfit

If you are training for strength, fitness and a bit of size then by all means make a dick of yourself

That's my only problems with crossfit. Makes it hard to have a decent schedule of your own and people who do it seem to think its the freaking be all end all. Id like to start doing it every once in a while. One of the FT. hood gyms offers it for free.

I dont mind crossfit. I personally dont do it because it doesnt fit my goals.

My only issue is the people that jump straight into it without truly learning the movements. Many of these lifts are dangerous and can easily injure you if done poorly

No doubt. The first month they offered it free ever fat over weight chubby sticky smelly couch potato loser scum bag came to CF. I would say 3-4 people would be off to the side with a pulled muscle or hurt due to them thinking they can power cling there body weight. lol.

Too many idiots in this world !!!

Yeah, we run a 3 week fundamentals class at my box to teach everyone how to lift correctly and maintain form. People either progress to the open classes at the end of that 3 week period as judged by the trainer teaching them, if they dont get it, they have the option to redo it once more, if still no good. refused signup.
