Thread: I get it

    I get it

I read a lot on the net about it, came here and I'm getting the same answers. And that is im not ready. So instead of asking what to start with I was wondering on how I can improve my diet. I'm 23. 175, 5'10. Just from protein shakes and eating better I gained 14 pounds in about 3 months so I like to think I was doing something right. I try to shoot for 3900 calories a day which I find impossible most days and I get about 200 grams of protein a day. I have a hard time understanding the carb part of all this and also what are some foods that are full of calories but aren't terrible for me. and I'd just appreciate any other tips u can give me. I'm all about learning new things. Thanks for your time

Lol, you've literally copied and pasted your introduction in the nutrition thread.

What is it you want to do? Do you want to gain more weight at the expense of increasing your bodyfat, or do you want to gain more lean mass without increasing your body fat? Do you want to cut?

Lol yeah sorry I'm new to this whole thread thing. I want to gain more weight with not so much fat. I'm a pretty skinny dude and I know I need to stuff my face to gain the weight but I just want to make sure I'm stuffing my face with the right stuff

A popular diet is the 60/20/20 split.

What that means is 60% of your calories will be coming from protein, 20% from carbs and 20% from fats.

It might be an idea to post up what your current diet looks like from a day to day basis, then we can have a tinker and see what, if anything, needs improving.

I have to respectfully disagree Flagg.... I don't think I would recommend a 60/20/20 to someone unless they were in a deep calorific deficit.... Reason being protein will simply be too high.....

You really don't need to go above 1.5g of protein per lb of body weight....

OP, lets see some stats including your body fat %...

What are your goals..... What have you achieved so far towards ur goals..... What has ur macro breakdown been exactly to help you achieve said goals?

Well he said he is getting 200g of protein a day but on a whopping 4000 calorie diet. Something is way, WAY up there.

Im pretty sure he said he is 175 pounds at 5'10.

I suspect he has way too many carbs in there..
