Okay, so how is the food there? I'm not really much of a Thai BBQ fan. I'm more of a steak & potatoes guy. Would I starve there?

They have every type of restaurant you can think of in the tourist cities (Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Chiang Mai). Even Russian restaurants that sell fried shark.

In Bangkok I ate deep fried insects. They taste pretty much just like fries. They also had a falafel stand in Ko Sahn Road that I was a fiend for. I remember also being able to buy fresh orange juice off a stand near there each morning.

On the islands I had the chance to eat shark, though i'd never do so again, for morale reasons. Nothing much special about it compared to other fish.

Ahh the juice in a bag with a straw? lol
Yeah I have to break out my pictures of munching on a deep fried grass hopper and deep fried frog.

Agreed, shark was a little oily and touch. Have you tried Ostrich though? VERY good.

    That's the one.

It's funny, it's been a long, long time since I was in Thailand, just over 10 years, but this thread is giving me all sorts of flashbacks!

I remember me, an American and a Israeli guy challenging 3 Palastinians to a game of fusball, The West vs The Middle East! Sadly we lost. Quite a bit of pride was in that game, lol!

Is the shark cooked on the grill as a steak? Or do I have to eat it fried?

And what would you say the portions are like there? Do they give you man-sized meals?

And you guys are saying that I'm not going to get stuck eating curry and noodles right?

I've had grilled and fried shark. Don't worry about the meals man you'll get your fill and there's plenty of American food ALL over the place.

Also, Thai people don't even eat that much curry and noodles...they love papaya salad and seafood a lot more lol.
