Unfortunately (for you), it's based on post count. There's currently no title in place based on length of membership; that system would be flawed in that somebody could join, never log on again and still continue to progress through titles. Conversely, I understand your reasoning;
somebody could simply post-whore a bunch of useless crap and be given a title. Lesser of 2 evils I suppose.
This is offset to some degree however by the newer 'colored' titles. While the basic ones (e.g. new member; senior member; anabolic member, etc.) are generated automatically based on post count, the colored titles (e.g. productive and/or knowledgeable -
blue and
red, respectively) are given to members who are specifically noted (by staff and/or admin) as having earned them.
So, you could be a new member with 50 posts but really know your shit and make an impression here - and may be turned blue or red -
while other members may have 10,000 posts (and the auto generated title) but no color.
Bit of an over-explanation, but I hope it helps.
