My wife loves her explorer, she's had 2 now and prefers the Tri-coat white for cleanliness over the black one she had. The leather interior in very durable. Stands up to our kids and their friends. Highly recommend the Explorer myself!
We wNt with the limited trim package on both and every option available. They damn near drive themselves nowadays haha

If it's just going to be a driver and nothing else then it's a decent vehicle but if you want/need some power then the Escalade.

Escalade isn't comparable to the OP's category of choice. But on a side note, I absolutely love my escalade and you will love it, too, LB!

Yeah I know he didnt mention the Escalade but I didnt really consider it either when I was looking but you can get a pretty good deal on one just a few years old and if I had to do it again I would choose the Cadillac for the minimal price difference.

Don't forget to consider fuel efficiency, even if gas is cheap it's nice to not have to stop to refuel every other day!

Warranties make a difference when there is a coin toss.
better and longer warranty equals less out of pocket for repairs.

Explorer sports are pretty nice, but if you look around you will be able to find a newer 2014 Esky (probably 2wd luxury) with low miles for about the same price. Higher/lower pricing depends on what you need the vehicle to do and trim package, but I got a great deal on my 2014 awd premium since everyone wants the new ugly 2015 lol. I'm biased tho since I have a garage full of caddys.

Only way I would consider an Esky is if they put the V motor in it, lol.

Nice car! Comfortable and has good handling in regards to drive!
Yet I have to try out the Explorer on the weekend!
Lets see how it will drive!
Im also getting a good deal on a Volvo 2014 XC90 with an opcion to trade in July for new 2015 XC90 with a 20% depreciation rate.

That looks sweet. Not exactly a SUV but would be a nice commuter. I hope it's as fast as it looks.

technically it does, just no blower. you can bolt one on for pretty cheap with a few tweaks...I plan on doing it.

V coupe is nice, but I like my 4 door...much more sleeper, except for the lopey idle lol.

2015 Charger SRT Hellcat is the baddest sedan on the market. 707hp, 204mph top speed (limited), 10.8 1/4 mile stock on drag slicks, it is a monster.

If Subarus are available, I'd recommend you look into the Outback Wagon and the Forrester. I've not spent much time in Guatemala (and never got outside of Guat City), but my general impression of rural roads throughout Central America is that your four-wheel drive can't be too good. Subarus have the most effective AWD system this side of a HUMVEE. The OBW originally was a high ground clearance station wagon (shooting brake/estate car), but each new model creeps further into SUV territory. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives both models top marks in all safety categories. Sure-footed, tough as nails, and top-notch safety.

The only drawbacks are that Subies aren't particularly plush, the AWD system carries a small penalty in fuel economy (2-3 mpg), and the demand for them is so high -- both new and used -- that their sale prices are comparatively steep.

Hellcvnt is a coupe since it only has two doors, but it's pretty stout for a factory car to produce that hp and timeslip basically stock.

fwiw, my 4 door sedan went 10.9 on drag radials this year and has a 10.7 in it on a good pass...plus its still a caddy

hahaha i let that shit cure for an extra 2~3 days since i didn't even live in the house yet, put a clear sealant on it and it still peeled. I expected it from my cars big ass sticky 305 tires, but the esky is on mud/snow and it still did it. it bothered me at first, but then i got tired of building/fixing/remodeling and said fvck it
