I mostly get my carbs from whole fruit
I never could figure out why they'd name a potato after an actress.........?
Times- are the carbs you get from fruit different than the carbs you get from rice or potatoes?
they are simple carbs, full of energy, and have a lot of fiber.
nutritionally better than a potato, and plenty of energy for the gym so no fatigue
I've written whole threads on the evolution of how I went from slow burning grain based carbs to quick burning fruit based carbs. I'm more productive in the office, in the gym, I feel better, better mood......
Oh ok... I know protein is primarily for building muscle but I have heard that some people build muscle easier while taking in a higher amount of carbs. So basically a carb. is a carb? (With the exception of carbs from soda; for example?)
A carb from anything is a carb. Period. Even from Soda. Carbs, fats, Protein are just a level down from Calories therefore are a unit of measure of energy (indirectly). This is why when you do your macros you can conveniently convert to calories from the three groups. For years tons of urban legends fueled the fire of what is bad and what is good and the source of the information came from the companies that provided the stuff. Notice how many servings of grains are recommended in the basic nutrition pyramid...and notice how rampant diabetes is in the USA. Connected? Most Doctors say so.
This said, and taking from countries outside the USA, the biggest difference is % absorption of carbs from the source. Fruit carbs do not completely process before they leave your body due to the structure of fiber in the food....therefore absorbed slower and not completely. Soda carbs are processed immediately and are instant energy but not long burning..ie..absorbtion is only as much as your body can absorb at that moment...the rest is wasted. Potato and rice are the middle of the road. Easily giving up carbs when ingested but yet have a fiber aspect that allows them to stay in your body without the immediate exit like soda.
That is the difference in aspect outside of the USA from Doctors in Asia and Europe on carb sources. Protein is the same way. Outside the USA protein shakes are looked upon as the absolute worst item you can put in your body..worse than Soda. The reason being is vegetarians were dropping dead from exhaustion related sides and studies found they were getting the majority of their protein from powder...and it absorbs in ways like Soda does...instant and only what the body can handle at that instant....and the end result was not pretty. It is actually outlawed for no sale in many major cities across Europe and Asia after asking around why it is not on the shelf.
A unit of energy is a unit of energy....but if your body can use it when it is processed is a completely different story.
