Normally i eat 4-5 meals a day + a shake post-workout or intraworkout. My thought about mealfreq is that the body can store carbs and fats but not protein. When you're trying to build muscle the body needs protein, and the body can try to rebuild from a workout at any time during the day(or night). What happens if you have a low mealfrequency and the body tries to rebuild but cant get hold of protein?
The fats gets stored in used when needed, the carbs are stored in glycogen-storages in the muscles and used when needed, where is the protein? Ive read that unused protein get peed out via urine-nitrogen, right?
So lets say you eat 1-2 times a day, you would need those meals to digest sooooo slow that the body always can absorb protein if it tries to build muscle. This can surely be done by eating fats that takes longer to digets etc but i find it easier to just consume protein through the day to help with this process. I dont know if this matters, but in my head it feels right. I usually eat protein with every meal, and just switch between protein+fat or protein+carbs. In weekends i can sleep longer so i can "save" up for a meal. Lets say instead of breakfast at 6 o'clock, and lunch at 9-10 o'clock, i eat them both in 1 sitting at 9 o'clock because i sleep longer. Same with dinners with friends and family. I can skip a meal or two that day to save up for a larger dinner, because we all know how people can eat
