Our bodies are comprised of many different types of cells. Connective tissue is made up of fibroblasts. Fibroblasts excrete collagen, elastin or fibronectin fibres. Fibroblasts are also located in our skin. Research has shown that some AAS can enhance collagen production in dermal (skin) fibroblasts but not in synovial (between joint) fibroblast cultures. The reason for this irregularity is not currently known.
